A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública it has just been re-accredited by the MEC (Ministry of Education), having received Institutional Concept 5, maximum score on the assessment scale.

This result puts the Bahiana among the 2,58% of higher education institutions across Brazil that score 5, out of a total of 2.712, including universities, university centers, colleges and public and private institutes that are evaluated by the National Higher Education Assessment System – SINAES.

THE SINAES

The National Higher Education Assessment System (SINAES) analyzes institutions, courses and student performance, taking into account aspects such as teaching, research, extension, social responsibility, institution management and faculty. SINAES gathers information from the National Student Performance Examination (ENADE) and from institutional and course evaluations. The information obtained is used for institutional guidance of higher education establishments and to support public policies. The data are also useful to society, especially for students, as a reference regarding the conditions of courses and institutions.

SINAES' evaluation processes are coordinated and supervised by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CONAES). Operationalization is the responsibility of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP), which carries out statistical and evaluative surveys at all levels and modalities of education.

INEP is responsible for:

The Superior Census, which is an annual collection of data on higher education in the country, including undergraduate, on-site and distance courses;

The Evaluation of Undergraduate Courses for the recognition or renewal of periodic recognition of undergraduate courses;

Institutional Assessment, comprising the analysis of data and information provided by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), in the electronic form, and the verification, in loco, of the institutional reality of their undergraduate and graduate, research and extension courses , serving for accreditation of new institutions or periodic re-accreditation of existing ones.

Also, as part of SINAES, the HEIs carry out an annual institutional self-assessment, led by the Proprietary Assessment Committee (CPA).

The re-accreditation process of Bahiana
