“I have been part of this team since the opening of the CAAP. It is a work aimed at both assistance and research production. I am a student of the Masters in Medicine and Human Health and I develop my project allied to assistance. The CAAP is what we expect from care today, focused exclusively on public health", says Cristina Brasil, 25, who was present at the celebration of one year of activities at the Pelvic Floor Care Center (CAAP), at the last Wednesday, August 12, at the Academic Unit Brotas da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The entire clinical team, masters, doctoral and undergraduate students from the Bahiana from the Medicine, Physiotherapy and Psychology courses, as well as collaborators from the Physiotherapy Clinic of the Teaching-Care Clinic of the Bahiana (CAFIS).

“CAAP started last year and we only had some research going on. Later, we decided to convene a group to pay attention to pelvic floor disorders. Initially, we started with only women, giving lectures and, soon after, we started to provide assistance. Today, we attend to all disorders related to the pelvic floor muscles, including men" concludes the coordinator of the CAAP, Dr. Patrícia Lordelo, physiotherapist and professor of Postgraduate Studies at the Bahiana.

For the 6th semester student of the Physiotherapy course Mayara Costa, “participating in a process from the beginning and realizing all the evolution of the CAAP is very gratifying for me. Urogynecology is an area that I intend to follow and effectively participate in research by combining my TCC within the center, which substantially enriched my learning", he concludes.
