Dialogue and Ethics Forum

The Cabula Academic Unit hosted, on June 16, the Forum "Dialogue and Ethics", the result of a partnership between the Bahiana and the Regional Nursing Council (Coren-Ba). 

The event was organized by the Technical Chamber of Education and Legislation of COREN-BA and was attended by the president of COREN – BA, Nurse Maria Luísa de Castro, counselor Idalina Engracia Ferreira, coordinator of the Nursing course at Bahiana, Prof. Cristiane Magali Freitas, from the members of the Technical Chamber of Legislation and Teaching, Prof. Gilberto Tadeu Reis and Prof. Rosicleide Freitas, and teachers and students of higher education institutions in Salvador: Bahiana, Ucsal, Ufba, Uninassau, Unijorge and Dom Pedro.

The program brought together professors and students with the aim of disseminating the work of raising awareness and approaching (COREN-BA), professionals and future professionals in the category, through permanent education actions, with active methodologies for a better understanding of the work that has been carried out, as well as a discussion on the role of nurses in contemporary society, based on their attributions and responsibility supported by the code of professional ethics.

“The meeting was of fundamental importance in bringing nursing students closer to the code of ethics. At graduation, the theme permeates in a transversal way, however, the code of ethics of nursing professionals is not highlighted, leading the student not to associate their practice in accordance with the norms and procedures provided by this instrument for validating professional practice. Actions like this, carried out in schools, promote debate for a better understanding of my attributions as a professional, thus preventing ethical violations from occurring in my professional path”, declared the nursing student at Bahiana, Vanessa Fidelis.
