PET - NETWORKS ends its activities

The event included professors, health professionals, students and representatives of the Ministry of Health and the State Health Department.

“Participating in PET was a unique opportunity, as we had the experience of working in groups with other courses and we were able to observe the patient at different stages of health, both in the basic unit, in the ICU and in hospitals. We also work on strategies for the community, administration in the management and dispensing of medication”, reports Bianca Rodrigues, 23 years old, student of the 7th semester of the Medicine course at Bahiana who attended the closing of the Education for Health Work Program (PET- Saúde – Redes Bahiana – Urgency and Emergency), last Tuesday, July 28, at the Cabula Academic Unit.

In the program, which brought together professors and students from the courses of Medicine, Nursing, Psychology and professionals working in health services, the results of two years of community work at the Bahiana together with the Ministry of Health. During the event, a round table was held, entitled: “Sinuosities of the Construction of Care in Network” and an exhibition, in three stands, of the experiences and productions built during the realization of the PET- Health, presented by the students.

The opening table was attended by the PET coordinator, Prof. Carolina Pedroza de Carvalho Garcia, the PET preceptor, Prof. Lígia Marques Vilas Bôas, Prof. Maria de Lourdes de Freitas Gomes, coordinator of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education. graduation of Bahiana, Prof. Flávio Borges, Ministry of Health evaluator.

The presentation of the panel was coordinated by Prof. Marta Menezes, PET Saúde volunteer preceptor and creator of the PetSaúde Project – Redes Bahiana and had the participation of Prof. David da Costa Nunes, preceptor of the Women's Health group, Prof. Maria Constança Cajado, preceptor of the Saúde da Criança group, the student Larissa Porto, of the Adult Health Group, the nursing student Priscila Mascarenhas, of the Saúde da Criança group and psychology student Tayenne Nascimento, from Grupo Saúde da Mulher.

“We did a panel on the closing of another institutional program in partnership with the Ministry of Health and with the partner health networks, the State and Municipal Secretariat. This project was approved in 2013 and had a duration of two years of great success and commitment with the effective participation of students, network professionals and coordination”, concluded the PET coordinator, Prof. Carolina Pedroza de Carvalho Garcia.

The 9th semester student of the Nursing course, Ana Lorena, reports that participating in PET was a unique experience of great importance for the enrichment of its academic content. “We had the opportunity to serve the community and this experience is unique. With PET, I assumed a differentiated professional profile, as we work in groups with other courses both in medicine and psychology and, with that, I greatly enriched my learning”.

“PET provided a moment of integration and sharing of experiences between everyone involved, both tutors, students and teachers. It is a growth both for the academy and for the service”, explains the coordinator of undergraduate and graduate education, Prof. Maria de Lourdes.

The PET preceptor, Prof. Lígia Marques Vilas Bôas, concludes that the event was of great importance and impact for the students. “We intend to continue this work. The Ministry of Health was an inductor, but, in fact, it is an action that we will seek to incorporate into the institution's culture”, he concludes.
