I Forum of Higher Education Institutions

The challenges for the training of nurses in view of the current Brazilian policy on mental health was the topic debated at the I Forum of Higher Education Institutions promoted on May 29, by Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (Bahiana), at the Cabula Academic Unit.

In its 1st edition, the program is a partnership between the Bahiana and the Federal University of Bahia, represented by professors of Nursing courses, Simone Cardoso Passos (Bahiana), Priscila Coimbra Rocha (UFBA) and George Amaral Santos (UFBA). 

The event was attended by the director of the UFBA School of Nursing, Heloniza Oliveira Gonçalves Costa and the vice-director, Cristina Maria Meira de Melo and the coordinator of the Nursing course at Bahiana, Cristiane Magali Freitas dos Santos.

During the program, the psychiatrist Dr. Mônica de Oliveira Nunes de Torrenté from UFBA gave a lecture on the theme: “Training committed to current mental health policies: challenges for graduation. Then, a roundtable was held with the theme: “Demands for knowledge in mental health practice: experiences in substitute services”, with the participation of Eduardo de Agueda Nunes Calliga, Sarah Meireles and Gustavo Emanuel Cerqueira Menezes. In the afternoon shift, a round of conversations was held with teachers from different higher education institutions, mediated by José Lúcio Costa Ramos (UFBA) and Norma Carapiá Fagundes (UFBA).
