Health Fair - Taking Care is Good

A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, through the Nursing course and the HTLV Center, promotes, on May 30th, from 8:14 am to XNUMX:XNUMX pm, the Health Fair – “Cuidar Faz Bem”, which takes place at Av. Beira Mar – Bairro do Bonfim (behind of the Church of Bonfim). The event will be held in partnership with the HTLVida Association, a support group for HTLV-I and II virus carriers.

The purpose of the program is to develop health promotion and prevention actions aimed at the population of the Bonfim neighborhood, clarifying doubts about HTLV, a disease that consists of a retrovirus from the same family as HIV, which infects the human T cell, a type of lymphocyte important for the body's defense system. 

The action will also make available, through stands, health promotion activities and care for the various population groups: children, adolescents, women, young adults and the elderly, carried out by students of the Nursing course at Bahiana, under the supervision of teachers, as well as the sale of items through “Brechó Chique”, whose income will be donated to Associação HTLVida.  

The health fair will provide spaces for all ages, a beauty of being a woman that offers various services such as: activity to promote self-care, emphasis on actions to prevent breast and cervical cancer, guidance on sexual health, informational on violence against women and prevention of STDs. It will also develop playful and creative activities for children, as well as care and guidance for people with hypertension and diabetes mellitus.
