Specialization in Mental Health and Primary Care

Qualify health and social service professionals in welcoming and assisting users with mental disorders, as well as those dependent on psychoactive substances and their families. This is the main objective of the specialization course in Mental Health and Primary Care, offered by the Postgraduate Program at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The course is aimed at professionals working in Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), Family Health Units, Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS), Family Health Support Centers (NASF) and others interested in the topic, "that is, all those who, in their work routine, demand greater knowledge of psychopathologies, processes of chemical dependency and the possibilities of the Psychosocial Care Network in referrals in Mental Health", explains the psychologist and coordinator of the course, Prof. ª Maria Antonieta Nascimento Araújo, noting that it is necessary for the interested party to have a degree in health or social work.

In an innovative way, the program, which has a total workload of 360 hours/class, will be taught in person, once a month, and online, in free time. The duration is 15 months, starting next Friday (May 29) and ending on July 11th.

The inaugural lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Antônio Nery Filho, director of CETAD-UFBA.

At the end of the program, the professional will be able to identify various psychological and psychiatric phenomena, acquiring knowledge about therapeutic tools for crisis management and primary care for SUS users.

The faculty has professors working at UFBA, at the School Bahiana of Medicine, in the Alliance for Damage Reduction Fátima Cavalcanti, in Psychosocial Care Centers and in the Health Department of the State of Bahia.
