On May 8th, the XNUMXst Youth Forum was held, with the theme “Youth Care Network: communities in motion”.

The event was promoted by the Center for Attention to Youth (CAJU), an initiative of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública which helps young people aged 15 to 29, promoting mental health in conjunction with public policies and social movements aimed at youth.

In the program, lectures were given with the participation of Silvania da Cruz Reis, educator of REPROTAI - Network of Protagonists in Action of Itapagipe and Eduardo Machado, journalist, communicator and community mobilizer, in addition to the participation of members of CIPÓ-Comunicação Interativa exhibiting videos and telling a little of the experiences in the project.

The coordinator of CAJU and professor of Psychology at Bahiana, Marta Vanessa Oliveira explains that the Youth Care Center is a new program of the institution with the aim of promoting the mental health of young people from Bahia.

“We do this programming with the objective of working with groups and individually, through art, culture and different forms of activity and expression by young people. We brought in two educators who work in the communities with very interesting and creative social projects, precisely to get young people out of this vulnerable situation”, he explains.

The REPROTAI educator, Silvania da Cruz Reis, told a little about the work she develops in the Youth Network in the Uruguay neighborhood. “The network work is developed with young people and we set up a network called REPROTAI – Itapagipe's Network of Protagonists in Action, where we carry out social and educational work in order to improve the living conditions of these young people”, concludes the educator.

The journalist, communicator and mobilizer Eduardo Machado explained a little about the NGO Cipó - Comunicação Interativa and the work carried out with young people in the railroad suburb of Salvador. “We are going to discuss a little about the methodology, what is the view that we have of these young people from the suburbs, reported in the big press, which is totally far from what we perceive. In fact, I'm going to give the floor to the young members of Cipó, as one of the organization's goals is to make these young people protagonists and autonomous in their actions”, he concludes.

According to the manager of the psychology service, Myla Arouca, the idea of CAJU is to provide assistance to youth and to discuss a little about what these young people really need and, with that, the idea of forums to publicize and give more body to the project was launched. .

The 4th semester Psychology student, Maria Elisabeth Caires, reported that the event was very didactic and constructive. "The support of Bahiana it is essential, because with this project, young people have the opportunity to get out of the state of vulnerability they are in, as they end up engaging in social and educational projects”, he concludes.
