Bahiana confirms its excellence by receiving, for the second time, the Great Place to Work (GPTW) 2014 award, as one of the four best companies in Bahia to work for. The ceremony took place this Tuesday morning, May 12th, at the Sheraton Hotel da Bahia and was attended by directors and managers of large companies also contemplated with the award. The institution was represented by the HR Manager, Telma Bastos and the People Development Manager, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro. Also present were the Administration and Finance coordinator, Emanolel Olimpio Alves de Souza, the Research and Innovation coordinator, Prof. Dr. Diego Menezes, the coordinator of Undergraduate and Graduate Teaching, Prof. Maria de Lourdes de Freitas Gomes, the vice-coordinator of Graduate, Research and Extension at Bahiana, Prof. Carolina Pedroza and HR development analyst, Clayton Silva de Almeida.

Carried out by the Great Place to Work Institute, in partnership with the newspaper Correio da Bahia and the Brazilian Association of Human Resources (ABRH - Bahia), the award takes place for the second time in the state. In all, 35 companies participated in the GPTW-2014 survey, of which ten were awarded, this number being double that of last year, which represented an amount of 25 thousand employees.

To reach the result, the survey is free and involves two questionnaires, the first being quantitative and comprising 58 questions, answered by employees of the assessed institution, and the second, qualitative, answered by managers of the company itself.

"We are 1.200 employees at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública and it is very difficult to think about management in the teaching area, it is something very new. We are very happy to have Unifacs here sharing this moment this year. For a school, it is very easy to take care of people, this is our core activity, so it is just a continuation of what we are", declared Prof. Luiza Ribeiro upon receiving the award.

"Today is Nurse's Day and we feel doubly happy to celebrate the date when the Bahiana receives, for the second time, the award of one of the best companies to work for in Bahia", celebrated Prof. Maria de Lourdes de Freitas Gomes, Coordinator of Undergraduate and Graduate Education, alongside Prof. Carolina Pedroza, Vice-coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, Research and Extension, both nurses.

To the Human Resources manager of Bahiana, Telma Bastos, the institution's success in yet another GPTW award is due to the practical application of institutional values. "I think this award is the recognition for who we are in essence. All the pillars of GPTW are in our values, which workers understand as our practices. These have internal visibility and with the award, our values are recognized externally".

According to Telma Bastos, all the work begins in the vision of the director of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani. "Our top manager is focused on people development and this is important because people are the ones who lead companies to results. We must always focus on people, in a healthy, transparent environment. This is what makes people bond with the institution ".

Also according to the HR manager, the result is also a response to the path that the Bahiana has been treading through the years. She highlights a challenge that the institution faces, "we are an institution that operates in two segments: teaching and health service provision, with our teaching-assistance clinics and our health promotion programs. They are two distinct areas and, despite that, we managed to get where we are and be part of this recognition group".
