Bahiana promotes "A Finger of Prose on Mental Health"

Programming is the result of a partnership with the Apice Clinic.

On the last 26th of March, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública promoted the event “A finger of prose on mental health”. The program was coordinated by the psychology professor Rafael Fernandes and emerged from the partnership between the school and the Apice Clinic (Integral Psychiatric Assistance and Study Center), which provides an internship field for Psychology and Nursing courses.

The initiative had the participation of the psychiatrist, Luís Cláudio Bochenek, the psychologist Aline Góes, the social worker Andrea Machado, the patients from the Apice Clinic, Stelino Alves and Ulisses Nogueira who attended the conversation with the music therapist Stacie Yedel, professional graduated from the University of New York and working in North American treatment units for mental disorders.


The program aimed to stimulate students' critical thinking regarding care, discuss the damages of the stigma of madness in contemporary times, reflect on rehabilitation strategies used in the expanded clinic and involve academics in the current psychiatric reform process, thus motivating the dialogue with different knowledge and strategies to expand participation in the process of improving mental health care.
