“Art: expanding the perception of oneself, expanding the perception of the world” was the theme of the lecture that took place this Friday, January 23, at the Cabula Academic Unit and marked the entry of Novos da Bahiana, in the institution. Through a playful and psychodramatic language, the actress Meran Vargens led hundreds of students, teachers and employees of the School to reflect on contemporaneity, the relationship with the other and with the world. The program began with the presentation of the choir Canta Bahiana, followed by the words of each graduation coordinator. The reception of the New to Bahiana it is coordinated by the Psicopedagógica Attention Nucleus (NAPP).

What's new

This year, the Nursing and Psychology courses brought as a novelty the new coordinators Prof. Cristiane Magali and Prof. Sylvia Barreto, respectively. “The year of 2015 started for me in a very special way, as I took over the coordination of the Psychology course, where I've been working since last year in planning this semester. The teachers are very excited, very involved to welcome new students and our veterans. We will continue to show the different psychology we teach in Bahiana, as an innovative way of teaching and learning, with a curriculum that is attentive to what is happening in the world today. Our idea is to make our students take a critical and reflexive position as a subject of the community, of society”, declared Prof. Sylvia Barreto.

The moment was also one of farewell and redirection to new paths, as was the case with Prof. Maria de Lourdes Lima, who left the coordination of the Nursing course to take over the Coordination of Undergraduate and Graduate Teaching at Bahiana. “It was eight years of a lot of learning. I was a manager for a long time in the hospital area and in primary care. I was sure what the market needed. So when I came to the Bahiana, I had this idea of building a course that would train the market, the profession, with a degree of autonomy, knowledge and values, that we had people with a broad view of health, a broad view of the system, how to serve this population, this community, whether at any level of primary care or tertiary care. The course was a collective creation. It was built, from the first moment, by a group of teachers and, during that time, we were adding more people who had this communion with what we wanted”.

about your future in Bahiana, Prof. Maria de Lourdes faces another challenge. “Now I'm the undergraduate and graduate teaching coordinator. So, that's the new thing, it's a challenge. Now we will always try to be in this articulation of undergraduate and graduate studies, supporting coordinators in their journeys, we will consolidate some programs and projects in an institutional way and also advance in graduate studies.”

Meeting

For Renata Travassos, 17, a medical student, the image she had of Bahiana corresponded to what he witnessed last Friday morning. “I've never come here on these tours the school takes, but I ended up signing up for the Bahiana even so, as it is a reputable School. The teachers are very united, they make everything clear to us. It corresponds to the image I already had”.

The appreciation of a humanistic vision that prioritizes aspects such as art, was what awakened in Biomedicine student, Ariel Tourinho, aged 18, the will to be Bahiana. “What I saw here corresponds to what I imagined. I have two aunts formed by Bahiana and I didn't want a formal, 'square' college that would make me forget a few things about school. I fell in love with it a lot here”.

Ane Gonzaga, also a freshman in Biomedicine, pointed out as a differential of Bahiana the Training Selection Process, as it is the moment when it is possible to learn more about the chosen profession. “This was the second entrance exam I took and I found it interesting because they show how the profession is, you can interact with those who will study later, it was very interesting. I already knew the Bahiana, because I visited during high school and I think it's interesting that the faculty proposes to interact with the student and not be that plastered thing that is just paperwork and bureaucracy. I found it interesting”.

For the manager of the NAPP, Prof. Angélica Mendes, it is time to receive the News from Bahiana it is also the opportunity to show how the School is an institution that is always in motion, in transformation. "THE Bahiana it is a school that moves in all dimensions. This movement can be physical, a school that has a space that can still grow, it moves pedagogically because it is innovating, deepening studies, seeking to understand what is new, what are the directions of education and it gets involved, applies and investigates the new methodologies. So, this is another moment in which we are going through a transition, implementing new things, changes that will certainly qualify even more what we do in all directions”.

The coordinators of the undergraduate course Eliana de Paula (Medicine), Urbino Tunes (Dentistry), Luciana Bilitário (Physiotherapy) and Geraldo Argolo (Biomedicine) were present, in addition to the manager of the Pedagogical Supervision Nucleus, Jucinara Menezes and her entire team, from Coordinator of Administration and Finance, Emanoel Olímpio Alves de Souza and Prof. Diego Menezes, who has just assumed the Coordination of Research and Innovation at Bahiana. “For 63 years the Bahiana it was already researching and innovating, so this year, the Research and Innovation Coordination was created so that we can share with society what we do with our knowledge, what we make available to Brazil and the world, considering that our research professors have their work presented in several countries”, declared the new coordinator.
