School's Dermatology Service Bahiana of Medicine and Public Health and Hospital Santa Izabel was accredited in 1996 and re-accredited in 2011-2015 by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD). Students, upon completing the course, will be able to take the contest to obtain the title of Specialist in Dermatology through the SBD, in agreement with the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB).

 

RULES AND OTHER INFORMATION


course objectives

To train medical professionals in the specialty, providing mastery of knowledge and techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of dermatological diseases.
NOTE: The course is unpaid and there are no funding grants provided by any entity.

Target Audience: medical graduates who have at least 1 year of in-service residency accredited by the MEC (National Commission for Medical Residency) in: clinical medicine, pediatrics and infectious diseases.

Workload
1.920 hours per year (40 hours per week), as required by SBD Duration of 03 years.

 

Syllabus (suggested by SBD)

- Practical core: 80% - outpatient (general and specialized in psoriasis, vitiligo and skin tumors), dermatological procedures, phototherapy and surgery. (S. Izabel Hospital and Teaching-Assistance Outpatient Clinic of Bahiana - ADAB - Brotas)
- Theoretical support core.

- Internships in mycology and leprosy in other institutions.
- Optional: 1 month in the 2nd year and 2 months in the 3rd year of internship in services accredited by SBD.

 

Holidays
30 days in the 2nd and 3rd year of the internship

The program may undergo changes if necessary to adapt to the requirements that may be determined by the SBD/AMB during the course.


The assessment will be continuous (domains: affective, cognitive and skills) through different methodologies. In the end, completion work may be required. To be entitled to the course certificate, attendance of 85% and compliance with the rules and schedules of each course activity will be required.

 

Program for selection

01 - Skin anatomy and physiology (structure, function and physiology).
02 - Dermatological semiology, including complementary methods for diagnosis.
03 - Basic notions of immunology of dermatological interest.
04 - Erythematous-squamous and eczematous eruptions: psoriasis, Gibert's pityriasis rosea, erythroderma; contact, atopic and seborrheic eczema; photodermatoses.
05 - Urticaria, fixed pigmentary erythema, polymorphic erythema, Stevens-Johnson, Lyell syndrome.06 - Pruritic papular eruptions: pruritus and pruritus, lichen planus, lichen sharp and lichen striatum, lichenoid eruptions.
07 - Vesico-bullous eruptions: dermatitis herpetiformis, pemphigus foliaceus and vulgaris; pemphigoids, bullous epidermolysis.
08 - Ulcer affections: anemic ulcers, micro-angiopathic arteriosclerotic, tropical ulcer and perforating mallet.
09 - Acne and acneiform eruptions. Alopecia.
10 - Collagen diseases: lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis.
11 - Granulomatous and degenerative disorders: sarcoidosis, annular granuloma and lipoid necrobiosis
12 - Bacteriosis; staphylococcal, streptococcal pyoderma; mycobacteriosis.
13 - Sexually transmitted diseases: syphilis, chancroid, inguinal lymphogranulomatosis, donovanosis.
14 - Leprosy, including leprosy reactions.
15 - Cutaneous tuberculosis: classification and clinical forms.
16 - Metabolic dermatoses: cutaneous amyloidosis, cutaneous alterations in diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorders. Dermatological alterations of endocrinopathies.
17 - Superficial mycoses (pityriasis versicolor, candidiasis and ringworm) and deep mycoses: paraccocidioiodomycosis, sporotrichosis, chromomycosis, histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and mycetomas.
18 - Viruses: herpes simplex and zoster, molluscum contagiosum and warts in general. HIV and HTLV1.
19 - Zooparasitic diseases: scabies, pediculosis, myiasis, larva migrans, tungiasis and leishmaniasis.
20- Benign tumors: skin, mucosa and adnexa.
21 - Precancerous dermatoses and malignant tumors (basal cell epithelioma, epidermoid, melanoma, lymphomas and sarcomas). Manifestations for neoplastics.
22 - Malignant tumors (basal cell epithelioma, epidermoid, melanoma, lymphomas and sarcomas). 
23 - Manifestations for neoplastic patients.
24 - Notions of psychodermatology.
25 - Occupational dermatoses.

Number of questions
50 (fifty), of the modality of simple proposition (right or wrong) and/or multiple choice.

In the event of a tie, the candidate who has graduated the longest will have preference. If the tie persists, the vacancy will be held by the older candidate.
