Inauguration of the Prof. Antonio Carlos Costa

This Wednesday, September 24th, in the library of the Cabula Academic Unit, the Prof. Antonio Carlos Costa, name given to the space by the director of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, in honor of the work being developed by the manager of the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE). The ceremony was marked by a videoconference held between the transmission rooms of CEDETE and Cabula.

"Today we have expertise regarding what we need and where we are going. This is a construction that has taken a long time and will offer our students and teachers the possibility of experiencing a differentiated technology that opens us up, not only for contact between ourselves, in our academic units, as in the rest of Brazil and the world", highlights the director of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, who participated in the broadcast in the CEDETE videoconference room, in Brotas.

“The most important benefit is perhaps this contact, this interaction, this closer approximation of our academic units. Regardless, we have the academic issues, the possibilities to share GISs, to live this experience, to spread it to our professors and students. So this is a historic moment. We can now interact with other academic units and, consequently, with other institutions. Without a doubt it is a great advance for the Bahiana”, commented the manager of the Telemedicine and Telehealth Center, Prof. Marta Menezes, who accompanied the inauguration from the CEDETE videoconference room.

Beside her, the coordinator of the Medicine course, Prof. Dr. Eliana de Paula, highlighted the gains for groups of teachers and students from all courses. "We are full of happiness and would like to congratulate the CEDETE team and the direction of Bahiana for yet another promising initiative and I am sure that our undergraduate and graduate students and professors are being contemplated with yet another important learning tool”.

The location that provides easy access for students was one of the points highlighted by CEDETE's manager, Prof. Antonio Carlos Costa. “This new structure encourages the possibility of integrating our academic environment. It is a room located inside the library, facilitating knowledge and access for students." He emphasizes that CEDETE will remain a management center for interlocution actions, meeting the needs of each academic unit. This fact was also celebrated by the coordinator of the Nursing course, Prof. Maria de Lourdes de Freitas Gomes. "For us it is a pleasure to be able to hold videoconferences from here because our difficulty was moving to Brotas. With this new room, our undergraduate and graduate students will be able to have much easier access to the activities of the SIGs and other videoconferences", declared the professor who, along with Prof. Antonio Carlos, was at the Cabula Academic Unit.

Also accompanying the ceremony at Cabula, the coordinator of the Dentistry course, Prof. Urbino Tunes declared that “this is a very special moment. We are here being able to see our colleagues from a distance and in real time, witnessing this evolution and the technological progress of our institution. We have been following the commitment of Prof. Antonio Carlos in seeking these possibilities to add values ​​and technologies to the educational process of Bahiana and that benefits everyone".

The role of the National Research Network in the advancement of educational technologies in the Bahiana was remembered by the planning advisor, Francisco Ramalho. “It is important to highlight the fact that the National Research Network (RNP) has understood the importance of connecting so many units of thought such as universities and research centers through an exclusive network that is not the internet.” He also highlighted the importance of participation of course coordinators in the GISs, leading to Bahiana to a national level of recognition.

The inauguration broadcast in CEDETE's videoconference room was also accompanied by the People Development coordinator, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, the coordinator of the Physiotherapy course, Prof. Luciana Bilitário, the manager of the Psychology Service, Prof. Sylvia Barreto , the manager of the Communication and Marketing Center, Regina Carvalho and the pedagogical supervisor, Narciso Paiva.

The group from the Cabula Academic Unit was also attended by the manager of the Pedagogical Supervision Nucleus, Jucinara Menezes, the administrator of the Academic Unit, José Maurício Rodrigues Pires, the vice-coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, Research and Extension, Carolina Pedroza, in addition to of teachers, members of the pedagogical supervision and the library.
