Research assesses the occurrence of falls in stroke patients

The article "Risk Factors Associated With Falls in Adult Patients After Stroke Living in the Community: Baseline Data From a Stroke Cohort in Brazil" has just been published in the renowned Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation magazine. The study was authored by the professor of the Physiotherapy course, Élen Beatriz, together with the interinstitutional research group that brings together professors, students and graduates from Bahiana and UFBA.

The study aimed to estimate the frequency of falls and identify factors related to the occurrence of falling in a sample of patients with stroke living in the community in Salvador. A relationship was found between the affected cerebral hemisphere and the occurrence of falls when functional capacity was evaluated by a specific test.
