August of the Arts

Vision, hearing, touch, smell and taste. The five senses of students and employees of Bahiana were explored once again in the Agosto das Artes project that took place at the Cabula Academic Unit, on the 19th and, at the Academic Unit Brotas, on the 26th and 28th of August, at 13 pm.

The vision was in charge of the Medicine coordinator, Prof. Dr. Eliana de Paula, who shared with visitors the installation Colors of Morocco with photographs of her trip and utensils from that country that set a space in space. "I like to take these trips to picturesque places with cultures different from ours. I brought the photographs and objects to share this experience with other colleagues", he declares.

Great attraction of Agosto das Artes, music was present throughout the event with presentations by students and teachers. According to the psychologist and pedagogue of the NAPP, Wagner de Angeli Ferraz, the event's objective is to "foster the institution's art and culture activities. We also have the opportunity to work on cultural plurality," he explains.

Student participation was also intense in the workshops. The student of the 1st semester of Nursing, Joice Reis, was the monitor of the jewelry workshop. According to her, the invitation came in freshmen week. Her experience as an artisan was shared with the laboratory's collaborator, Arlete de Jesus Souza. 13 years in Bahiana, she says that "August das Artes is an interesting moment, because we are learning to do things, it is also therapy. At lunchtime, having something creative to do is very cool".

Working playful at lunchtime also helps to unwind. This is how the 6th semester student of Medicine, Larissa Leal, sees the activities of Agosto das Artes. Together with her colleagues, she enjoyed a space reserved for clay crafting. "It's very good because it helps to take your mind off your worries, it relaxes a little, because we don't have much time to do these things and, here at halftime, it's good to have something to distract."

Among the activities, the taste and smell also had their place with a sweets workshop. The event also featured a juggling workshop, painting panel and poetry declamation. As last year, Psychology student Kaike Costa Oliveira de Jesus expressed his poetical side. CLICK HERE and see the poem "And when talking about Psychology, I'm talking about the human being".

Agosto das Artes is an initiative of the Psychopedagogical Care Center, headed by Maria Angélica Mendes and with the collaboration of members of the nucleus Maria Cândida Tavares, Isabella Queiroz, Jehisa Pinheiro, Jozélia Abreu, Patricia Lisboa Viana and Wagner de Angeli Ferraz. This year, the organizing committee had the participation of Psychology students Julio Cesar Requião (8th semester), Amanda Kuelin (2nd semester), Bruna Gusmão (4th semester), Liz Freitas (1st semester), Lara Cannone (4th semester), Lorena Martins (4th semester), Alyne de Souza Melo (4th semester), Nilo Barroso (4th semester) Luiza Kalil (4th semester) and Paula Bispo (4th semester).
