Bahiana celebrated Psychologist's Day, this Wednesday, August 27, with a conference that filled the courtyard of the Academic Unit's Classroom Pavilion Brotas. With the theme "Psychology and Secularism", the clinical psychologist, Reseli Goffman, proposed to those present a reflection on the role of religions within the Brazilian State, schools and other areas of coexistence, highlighting the role of social psychology in this context. The event was attended by the coordinator of the Psychology course, Prof. Mônica Daltro, as well as professors and students of the course.

Goffman addressed the concepts of secularism, the history of psychology in Brazil, as well as the way in which the subject has been discussed by psychologists. She urged those present to reflect on freedom of expression, expression of desires, highlighting how the border between the State and religion guarantees free thinking and expression. "Without the secular nature of the State, we would live in a theocracy, not a plural theocracy, as there is never room for everyone in the field of religious dogmatism", he declares.

Roseli Goffman is a member of the Federal Council of Psychology, coordinator of Mobilization and Organization of the FNDC, head of the Organizing Committee of the I National Conference on Communication, specialist in Business Management from COPPEAD – UFRJ and consultant in Institutional Analysis, Development and Project Management.
