Parasitology Laboratory

Parasitology Laboratory

(Cabula Campus)

The Laboratory of Clinical Parasitology at Bahiana develops research related to the identification of microorganisms involved in water-borne diseases that are present in populations in the state of Bahia. With greater focus on schistosomiasis, it aims to identify risk factors associated with the presence and persistence of this parasite in order to provide improvements in the health and quality of life of the population. The laboratory has a partnership with the Gonçalo Moniz Research Center, from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Salvador – BA), and with Tulane (New Orleans – LA – USA), through which the products, knowledge and technologies generated will be shared between the three institutions.
