A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Are 9 laboratories, 23 rooms of class e 2 auditoriums to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 37 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. The Cabula Campus is also home to the Dental Center of Bahiana, where the Teaching-Care Outpatient Clinic is located, a field of practice for the quality training of dentistry students, from the 4th semester of the course, under the supervision of professors and has ability to serve up to 120 patients simultaneously. Registration open for Ethnic-Racial and LGBTQIAPN+ Affinity Groups at Bahiana

The commitment of Bahiana with the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion among its employees, students and teachers, it was recognized with the LGBT+ Diversity Seal from the Municipal Secretariat for Reparation of the Municipality of Salvador (Semur), in the Commitment category, in a ceremony held on the 4th of December, at the Mercure Hotel, in Rio Vermelho. The event was attended by the head of Semur, Ivete Sacramento, the municipal coordinator of LGBT+ Policy, Marcelo Cerqueira, and the journalist, YouTuber, singer and coordinator of Diversity for the city of São Paulo, Léo Áquilla. The certification reaffirms the company’s commitment Bahiana with the Diversity Valorization Pact, complying with the guidelines aimed at combating discrimination against the LGBT+ population in corporate environments. This is the first time that the Bahiana is certified with the Semur LGBT+ Diversity Seal. The seal was received by consultant Margot Azevedo. "For us, it is a great joy to represent a client that has diversity in its DNA, because Bahiana has a long history of supporting inclusion and diversity", stated Azevedo. "The certification reaffirms the exercise of good practices in Diversity, a constant effort by the institution, which also reflects the recognition of our work to combat LGBTphobia and our commitment to the promotion of LGBTQIAPN+ equity in Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública", said Allana Machado, People Development manager.

 In line with global trends to promote a healthy and safe work environment, the Bahiana implemented, in April 2023, the DE&amp;I Committee, advancing in the consolidation of a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. The nucleus is made up of nine members, including representatives from senior management, academic, administrative and commercial areas. To begin activities, the DE&amp;I Committee defined three pillars of action: ensuring accessibility for students from minority groups in all courses, consolidating a DE&amp;I policy and establishing leadership in the education and health segments. Therefore, an expanded Diversity Census was carried out, covering the internal community (63% of active employees) and individuals and organizations impacted by the actions of the Bahiana. Among the main actions carried out in the year, the creation of the Ambulatory for Trans People stands out, an extension project that, in addition to promoting specialized assistance in the health area, ensuring the trans population, monitoring by the Unified Health System (SUS ) contributes to the student training process. Furthermore, in the apprentice and trainee programs for minorities, three young trans people were hired to promote inclusion and encourage employability. Senior leadership's awareness and literacy on the topic of DE&amp;I was also worked on, as well as their goals and commitments with the DE&amp;I Policy in 2024. For next year, training for managers and employees on the topic is planned; the creation of Ethnic-Racial and LGBTQIAPN+ Affinity Groups that will aim to bring together people who share similar ideals and experiences, as well as promoting necessary changes in relation to DE&amp;I. With these initiatives, the institution seeks to be an example in this area, inspiring other organizations to follow the same path and expand their impact on society, maintaining its commitment to tradition and innovation.

The institution implemented several initiatives throughout 2023, with the aim of consolidating a more welcoming culture for people from minority groups.

Bahiana creates DE&I Committee - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Opening the LGBTQIAPN+ pride month, celebrated in June, the Bahiana promoted, on June 1st, the V Symposium on Health Care with the LGBTQIAPN+ Population, in remote format, with transmission through the Zoom platform. With the theme "Does your training enable you to take care of individuals in their particularities?", the event, which is coordinated by professors Marlene Barreto and Ricardo Araújo da Silva, takes place annually and is an initiative of the curricular component Saúde Coletiva III, of the course of Dentistry, which covers 7th semester students, in addition to being open to the entire academic community. “Our challenge is to discuss topics that are mainstreaming our content, that is, not only to discuss care for the LGBTQIAPN+ population, but also to discuss bioethics and the use of psychoactive substances. , of stigmas and stereotypes, which promotes distancing from people who need health care", pointed out Marlene Barreto about the theme chosen for the symposium. "It's a question we always ask: if our training enables us to take care of all people", asked the teacher. The program had the participation of guest speakers, professors, students and alumni. "Integral Health of Transgender, Transvestite and Non-Binary People" was the theme of the opening lecture given by the coordinator of the Transsexualizing Ambulatory (HUPES/UFBA) and endocrinologist of the Multidisciplinary Ambulatory for Transvestites and Transsexuals (CEDAP/SESAB), Luciana M. Barros Oliveira . The event also featured the speeches of the newly graduated in Medicine from Bahiana and educator at the Conceição Macêdo Beneficent Institution (IBCM) Nicholas Ponso, on gender and sexuality, in addition to lectures by the two coordinators on dental care for the trans population and issues related to bioethics.

The event discussed the training of health professionals in terms of gender, sexuality and bioethics.

The philosophy of diversity that drives the Bahiana in training its staff, it was recognized and recorded in the Ranking DE&amp;I+ (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) 2022 Report, established by Great Place to Work, a Brazilian organization that supports companies in building better work environments. In this way, the institution reached 22nd place in the Women's Ranking, 8th place in the 50+ Ranking and 20th place in the LGBTQIA+ Ranking. The announcement was made at a ceremony held in São Paulo on March 23, in which the Bahiana was represented by the Personnel Development Selection manager, Allana Machado. A Bahiana competed with around 1.500 companies participating in the GPTW Diversity. In the Woman ranking, 491 registered companies competed and 75 were awarded, 36 of which were large. In the LGBTQIA+ ranking, there were 215 companies registered and 20 awarded. In the 50+ ranking, there were 147 companies registered and 15 awarded. Telma Bastos, manager of People and Learning Management at Bahiana (GEPAP), pointed out that the Bahiana 30% of its workforce is made up of people over 50 years of age, which is why it created the SENIORS Program – Developing the Mindset of Longeractivity. “This program encourages people to think about and design careers, regardless of their age. On June 28, the International LGBTQI+ Pride Day is celebrated, leading public and private institutions and organized civil society to carry out education and awareness activities throughout the month of June. THE Bahiana, with its activist, inclusive and solidary character, opened the month with the IV Symposium on Health Care for the LGBTQI+ Population, held on June 2, through an online broadcast, on its YouTube channel. The symposium is in its 4th edition, conceived and coordinated by professors, Ricardo Silva and Marlene Barreto, being an initiative of the curricular component Saúde Coletiva III, of the Dentistry course, which covers students of the 7th semester, in addition to being open to the entire academic community. This year, the event brought the theme "Does your training enable you to take care of individuals in their particularities?", covering a program with guest speakers, including doctors, psychologists, activists and health professionals who work and develop research related to care with the LGBTQI+ community. "This symposium was born with a theme that crosses all our content. So, in addition to the theme presented today, last semester, we discussed Bioethics and the Consumption of Psychoactive Substances. that need to be widely discussed by health professionals", explained Professor Marlene Barreto. “In the country that kills the most LGBTQI+ people in the world, we need to make health environments a differential of reception, respect and exercise of citizenship so that these vulnerabilities are reduced and public policies, implemented in the country, for a long time, are fulfilled” , reported Professor Ricardo Silva.
