Guidelines for Defenses - Master's

DEFENSE MARKING - STRICT SENSU COURSES

Guidelines:

  • The defense must be requested through the forms at least 21 days in advance of the performance date;
  • The following are mandatory items for scheduling the defense: not having academic-financial issues; have completed all mandatory and optional subjects, as well as the accreditation of complementary activities;
  • Defenses must take place via the Zoom Meeting Platform;
  • The dissertation/thesis copy will be sent to the committee members, together with the formal invitation, evaluation guidelines and access link to the virtual room via NUPÓS;
  • The student will have 30 minutes to present and each member will have 10 minutes to argue, the same response time for the student;
  • Board members must be invited by the student and/or supervisor, with the knowledge/agreement of both;
  • The panel members must be informed about the date and time of the defense at the time of the invitation;
  • Defenses must be carried out from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 18 pm;
  • Research panels that focus on innovative product(s) or process(es) or have real potential to be subject to intellectual protection must be carried out in the form of a closed presentation, with only the participation of the examining committee and the supervisor being permitted. (The). In this case, it is up to the student to inform on the form, so that the NIT (Technological Innovation Center) provides the Secrecy and Confidentiality Agreement for everyone to sign;
  • All members of the panel must have a Doctorate degree, except for the Professional Master's Degree in Psychology and Health Interventions which, as it is a professional program, allows the participation of members with a Master's degree, with specific/specialist knowledge in the topic covered. ;
  • After the defense has been completed, the minutes must be sent by the advisor, duly completed, to the address poststrictosensu@bahiana.edu.br, so that they can be signed via the Electronic Subscription Portal of the Bahiana, by the members of the committee and students;
  • The professor with an institutional link with the institution will preside over the panel. Bahiana, with longer titration time;
  • The oral presentation of the dissertation defense is open to the internal and external academic community, as well as open to other guests;
  • To schedule the master's defense of the Medicine and Human Health Program, the student must submit the article to a scientific journal, preferably with stratification above B2;
  • To mark the defense of the Professional Program in Health Technologies, the student must insert the article in the submission format as an appendix;
  • To mark the defense of the Professional Psychology and Health Interventions Program, the presentation of the product/device/service/process or article must be included in the dissertation;
  • After completing the defense, the student has 60 days to make the changes requested by the committee and send the dissertation, in Word, to the email: poststrictosensu@bahiana.edu.br, for checking formatting standards and final guidelines for issuing the diploma;
  • According to Ordinance No. 360, of May 18, 2022, which disposes of the academic collection, for digital media, delivery of the final printed version is exempt;
  • In accordance with Ordinance No. 206, of September 4, 2018, all CAPES scholarship students must cite financial support, as per Art. 3 of said Ordinance, with the following text: "The present work was carried out with the support of Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - Brazil (CAPES) - Financing Code 001;
  • As stated in the contract, defenses carried out outside the 24-month period will be charged a fine of 10% of the monthly fee, per month of delay, up to the month of defense.
