Bahiana congratulates students and professors of Biomedicine

It is with great joy that the Bahiana honors its Biomedicine students and professors for the passage of Biomedical Day. The profession is celebrated on November 20, as it was on this day, 25 years ago, that the Federal Supreme Court regulated the profession, through Bill no. 6684 of 08/09/1979, presented by federal deputy and biomedical doctor Lobbe Neto. Today, the field of activity of a biomedic includes anatomy, biology, ecology, genetics, pathology, immunology, psychobiology, among others.

The Biomedicine course at Bahiana aims to contribute to the formation of a Health Professional capable of working in the various fields of Biomedical knowledge, from basic training in biological processes and interaction between health/disease, with humanistic, critical, reflective, entrepreneurial and investigative training, which seeks to guarantee of comprehensive health within the Brazilian Health System. A professional aware of the interdependence between the environment and the bodies involved in it, with an emphasis on regional and local aspects, guided by ethical principles and attentive to technological advances, being able to keep up with them. He is also aware of the socio-economic, ethnic and cultural reality, with an active posture and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
