Share

The success of the I Journey on Neurological Physiotherapy at Bahiana, held last year, culminated in the expansion of the event, which this year had the participation of several professionals from other higher education institutions and entities related to health. The event took place on November 05th and 06th, at the Cabula Academic Unit and the opening was attended by Ana Carolina Garcia, vice-coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, Research and Extension at Bahiana, who, at the time, represented the director of the School, Dr. Maria Luísa Carvalho Soliani.

“A II Journey of Neurological Physiotherapy of the Bahiana it is a reflection of the success of the I Jornada and the recognition, by the students, of the seriousness of the event. It is an initiative that has several professors in the area and, therefore, very rich. And those who seek to participate are looking for a differential in their training”, declared Ana Carolina Garcia.

For the general coordinator of the journey, Prof. Elen Beatriz Pinto, the great dedication of the students who participated in the organization of the event resulted in the adhesion of professionals from outside the Bahiana who participated voluntarily. “This second journey is a product of the monitoring program we carried out last year, and in which students participated in the construction of the program, not only elaborating, but studying the themes. It is also very important to highlight the participation of speakers from other higher education institutions who were willing to come here at no cost to us. This is because they believe in the importance of the event, in the importance of discussing the topic”, comments Prof. Elen.

Among the guest speakers, the coordinator of the journey highlights Dr. Pedro Antônio de Jesus, the greatest reference in neurological clinic and rehabilitation in Salvador; Dr. Carla Nascimento, physiotherapist; Mª Luana Talita Diniz Ferreira, former student of Bahiana and Mª Isabella de Souza Menezes, also a physiotherapist and both linked to the Association for Assistance to Disabled Children (SP); and the professor at UNEB, Mª Sumaia Midlej de Sá.

“This journey, for those of us who participate in the organization, not only provided us with learning through the construction of the program, but also the group work was important, as it developed our ability to listen. This work was not overnight. It was the result of a lot of study and a lot of effort and we are happy for everyone's presence, which makes us believe in the success of the event", celebrates the 5th semester student of Physiotherapy at Bahiana and member of the organizing committee, Mariana Borges.
