The musical presentation by the group "Pra Tocar", composed of collaborators from Bahiana, marked the beginning of the second day of the XII Biomedicine Symposium that took place from September 28th to 30th, at the Cabula campus and, this year, brought a celebratory theme: "20 years of Biomedicine in Bahia: from traditional knowledge to artificial intelligence". The opening table was attended by the dean of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, the president of the Regional Biomedicine Council, Djair de Lima, the president of the Bahia Section, Dimitri Marques Fonseca, the coordinator of the Biomedicine course, Prof. Geraldo Ferraro, and the symposium coordinator and course teacher, Renata Roseghini. In his opening speech, Roseghini highlighted the importance of the course of Bahiana. "We have many Biomedicine representatives who left here and are making history in Brazil and we brought some of these people to our symposium."

Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani said that the course was developed through collective construction. "Today, 20 years later, we have reached maturity. Our Biomedicine course has matured, however, this maturity, this accumulation of knowledge, has not made us rigid. We need to have flexibility to learn more. Maturity is synonymous with flexibility". In their speeches, representatives of the regional and sectional councils also highlighted the course of Bahiana as a milestone in Biomedicine, the first in the state of Bahia.

Agenda
In addition to round tables with professors and professionals who graduated from the institution, which took place throughout Friday (28), the program included seven mini-courses taught by nationally and internationally renowned professors, such as speakers Michael Paul Verzi (Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey) and Fernando Ontiveros-Llamas (St.John Fisher University). The event officially opened on the evening of September 28th with the 30th edition of Ciência com Acarajé, when the lecture "The citizen science of Vital Brazil" was given by retired professor Tânia Brazil.
