The professor of the Biomedicine course and former student of Bahiana Dr. Jaqueline Goes has just received the Inspiring Award, in the Women in Science category. The award is an initiative by Universa and Instituto Avon, whose mission is to discover, recognize and give greater visibility to women who stand out in the fight to transform the lives of Brazilian women.
Jaqueline Goes won the award for her projection at the beginning of the pandemic, having participated in the sequencing and, consequently, the tracking of the coronavirus. Before that, she had already emerged as one of the most promising researchers in the field of infectious diseases in the country, with work on the chikungunya and zika viruses.
The Inspiring Awards announces, for this 2023 edition, the creation of the Women in Science category. The objective is to recognize the work of women in the scientific field who discovered, developed and implemented technologies or experiments capable of promoting improvements for humanity and the environment.
Research and Innovation
The scientist was part of the team that sequenced the DNA of the coronavirus in the first cases of Covid-19 in Latin America.
