Bahiana holds XI Symposium on Biomedicine

The event took place remotely, with transmission through the Bahiana on Youtube.

“Biomedicine for life”. This was the theme of the XI Biomedicine Symposium of the Bahiana which took place on November 26 remotely, with a live broadcast on the institution's official YouTube channel. Coordinated by professors Adriano Alcântara and Cínthia Vila Nova Santana, the event had a diversified program, with chats with graduates, lectures, exhibitions, photography and literature, as well as a closing round table.

As in all editions, the Symposium began with a greeting from the coordinator of the Biomedicine course at Bahiana, prof. Geraldo Ferraro, who participated in the opening in which professors Léa Maria dos Santos Ferreira and Jaqueline Góes were honored. The highlight of the morning shift was the international lecture “Immune response to vaccine: the TCR repertoire as a biomarker”, given in English by the CSO of the Company Girihlet Inc. (USA), Dr. Ravi Sachidanandam.

In the afternoon shift, the lecture “How can mitochondrial dysfunction be a risk factor for psychiatric diseases? “, presented by guest Dr. Ana Paula Mendes Silva (Post-Doctor in the Department of Molecular Sciences of the Brain, Center for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto – Canada). The last activity of the symposium was the round table “The possibilities of Aesthetics in Biomedicine”, with presentations by biomedical graduates from Bahiana doctor Ricardo Andrade and Dr. Rodrigo Brito and mediation by another former student of the Biomedicine course, Indira Ayama.
