Neuromuscular Disease Outpatient Clinic Bahiana Health performs preceptorship

Activity promoted the training of physical therapists and speech therapists for the management of patients with spinal muscular amyotrophy (SMA).

The Neuromuscular Diseases Outpatient Clinic at Bahiana Health held, on October 7, the preceptorship "Multidisciplinary Care in Spinal Muscular Amyotrophy (AME)", an activity coordinated by Prof. Dr. Marcela Câmara Machado Costa, leader of the Neurosciences Research Group, and professors of Nursing Marilaine Menezes and Physiotherapy Cristiane Dias.

The preceptorship aimed to provide training for physiotherapists and speech therapists who accompany SMA patients or who wish to specialize in the management of patients with neuromuscular diseases, especially in the management and rehabilitation of patients with spinal muscular atrophy.

The training took place through a theoretical-practical immersion, in which clinical experiences of the multidisciplinary team of the Neuromuscular Diseases Outpatient Clinic were shared. Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.
