The event had an audience of approximately 250 subscribers.

Discussing the present and future of Biomedicine was the objective of the VIII Biomedicine Symposium of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública performed on days March 29 and 30. The event took place at Campus Cabula and was attended by students, professors, professionals and representatives of the Association and Councils of Biomedicine in Bahia.

The program, which was divided into two days, covered topics such as entrepreneurship, arboviruses in Brazil, aesthetic dysfunctions and bioimage, consisting of lectures, round tables, talk show, presentation of works, Biomedicine fair and short courses.

During the opening, which started at 8 am, a video was shown in honor of the professor and coordinator of the course, Geraldo Argolo Ferraro. About this initiative, the professor comments that “it was very exciting to see and hear expressions of affection from so many people, such as dean Maria Luisa, professor Bernardo Galvão, the course professors and former students. The surprise was incredible, and I thank you all”.

Geraldo Ferraro also explains how the event was structured: “This Symposium was initially organized by me, being managed by professor Vanessa Brito in collaboration with professors Gabriel Queiroz, Viviane Ferreira and Luciane Amorim”.

The efforts of the organizers resulted in approximately 250 subscribers, having been exhausted, days before, the vacancies for the five short courses that took place on Saturday (30). “We are very proud”, points out the course coordinator, who also clarifies the choice of theme: “In terms of health, there is a need for professionals to constantly reinvent themselves due to the current market dynamics. We don't know if a few years from now there will be the same techniques that are presented today”.

The professor and coordinator of the event, Vanessa Brito, highlights that the idea of planning the symposium came from the proposal for the guests who graduated from the course to talk about the area in which they currently work: “We had a roundtable with these former students, therefore, this year, the lectures and short courses were given by Biomedicine graduates from Bahiana. They addressed the areas of activity, based on the main theme”. In addition to the lectures, representatives of the Biomedicine Councils in Bahia were present to guide the public.

Carlos Danilo Cardoso, one of the directors of the Regional Council of Biomedicine of the 2nd Region and president of the Association Bahiana de Biomedicina, stresses that having been invited to the occasion was “very gratifying, even more so because it is the first private institution in the State of Bahia to offer the Biomedicine course. Talking to young people and future biomedical colleagues is very positive.”

Student Isabela Ribeiro, who is in the 5th semester of Biomedicine at Unijorge, revealed that she is participating for the first time in an event at Unijorge. Bahiana: “I heard about the Symposium through EBMSP's Instagram and became interested in the program. I had a great experience because, despite being divided into two days, it didn't become tiring”. The first day of the action, on Friday (29), ended at 18:8 pm, the second day began at 12:XNUMX am and ended at XNUMX:XNUMX pm with the completion of the short courses.
