Public Selection of Scientific Initiation Scholarship Proposals - 2008

1. General Information

1.1. objective

It is aimed at undergraduate students, regularly enrolled in the Biomedicine course at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública for the development of research initiation activities, supervised by an experienced researcher, who fulfills the requirements defined in this Notice.

1.3. Number of scholarships

Four (04) scientific initiation grants.

1.4. Candidate

· Have completed the 1st semester of the Undergraduate Course;
· Not having an employment relationship, or a scholarship of any kind, during the entire duration of the program;
· Present the research projects in the form of a poster at the Scientific Journey promoted by Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública in 2008 and the results by oral presentation at the Scientific Initiation Journey promoted by Bahiana in 2009;
· Have an updated curriculum on the Platform Lattes;
· Students with an expected completion of the course within the scholarship period cannot enroll.

1.5. from the advisor

The researcher must meet the following requirements to be a supervisor of Scientific Initiation students:
· Be a researcher with a minimum degree of specialist;
· Be a professor of the Undergraduate Course in Biomedicine at EBMSP;
· Be part of a Research Group of the EBMSP or of an associated institution, registered in the Directory of Research Groups of CNPq;
· Guide the scholarship holder in the different phases of scientific work, including the preparation of the report and material for presenting the results at scientific events, including the EBMSP Scientific and Cultural Exhibition;
· Have an up-to-date curriculum on the Lattes Platform.

1.6. Duration and Deadlines

The duration of the scholarship is 12 (twelve) months, as long as it does not exceed the regular graduation time in that course. There will be no renewal of the scholarship, but there is no impediment for the student to apply for the new scholarship.
During the period of validity of the scholarship, the scholarship holders can be replaced only once, upon request of the advisor and express authorization of the Coordination of the Biomedicine Course, respecting the foreseen duration until the 9th month of the scholarship's validity. After the beginning of the term of the scholarships, the replacements will take place in the same project approved by the Notice. In case of withdrawal before the grant implementation, there will be a progressive call with the classification of the candidates.

2.0. Submission of Proposals - Documents

Completion of the EBMSP scholarship application form, especially the item related to the work project to be developed by the scholarship holder) - APPENDIX 01;
· Candidate's Academic Transcript, referring to graduation (signed by the institution);
· Updated Curriculum Lattes of the advisor;
· Candidate's updated Curriculum Lattes.

NOTES:

In the project / work plan, the participation of the scholarship holder in the development of the project must be clearly defined;
Each researcher may submit different projects for granting the scholarship, however, only one (01) proposal may be approved by each applicant-researcher; 

If applicable to the project, the submission protocol must be presented to the Human or Animal Research Ethics Committee.

3.0. Analysis and Evaluation

The evaluation of the projects will be carried out by at least two professors from EBMSP and will receive a score in terms of APPENDIX 02.

In the event of a tie, the candidate who:
1st - Have higher coefficient of constant achievement in the Academic Transcript;
2º - Not having been benefited by a previous scientific initiation scholarship;
3rd - Who has exercised monitoring in a subject that makes up the curriculum of the EBMSP courses;
4th - If the tie persists, the Course Coordinator will have the autonomy to propose other criteria.

4.0. Result of the evaluation and implementation of the Scholarships:

The results will be published on the boards of the Cabula Academic Unit and on the institutional page of the EBMSP (www.bahiana.edu.br/) simultaneously, it is up to the candidates to inform themselves of the results.

5.0. Monitoring and Final Evaluation

a) The scholarship holder will present the work project in the form of a panel at the Cultural and Scientific Exhibition of EBMSP 2008 and the results of his research work at the Scientific Initiation Journey, in oral exhibition, during the Scientific and Cultural Exhibition in 2009.
b) The scholarship holder must submit, regardless of request, a partial (after six months) and final report to the Coordination of the Biomedicine Course. Failure to comply with this clause will result in the suspension of the scholarship or its cancellation.
c) EBMSP reserves the right at any time to request additional information or documents deemed necessary for the evaluation and monitoring of proposals.

6.0. Revocation or Annulment of the Notice

At any time, this Notice may be revoked or annulled, in whole or in part, including the resources allocated to it by unilateral decision of EBMSP, or for reasons of public interest or legal requirement, without this implying the rights to indemnity or claim of any nature.

7.0. Additional Information

Proposals must be filed with the EBMSP Secretariat, Academic Unit III, Cabula, until 12 noon on 13.08.2008. Proposals that, even if filed, are not in accordance with the items in this Notice will not be evaluated.
