V Edition of the Symposium on Biomedicine takes place at Bahiana

Student of the Biomedicine course at Bahiana receives the Professor Dr. Geraldo Leite award.

On March 12, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública performed the V Symposium on Biomedicine, at the Cabula Academic Unit Convention Center with the theme “Innovate to Develop”.

The program promoted the exchange of knowledge, contributing to the training of participants through lectures, round tables and sections for exposition of scientific works, aimed at building an innovative practice for technological development in the biomedical area.

During the event, the lectures “Entrepreneurial Management in the Laboratory Area: from design to business” were highlighted, given by doctors Thomas de Araújo, Superintendent of Innovation at the State Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI), Maurício Viana Bernardino and Alexvon Nunes Gomes, from Labchecap and “Biomedicina Estética” with the participation of biomedical doctor Camila Sampaio.

During the free themes section, the winning scientific work of the Professor Dr. Geraldo Leite Award was chosen. Student Caíque Almeida Machado Costa, academic of the Biomedicine course at Bahiana who presented the work entitled “Influence of the Insig-7566605 Gene rs2 Polymorphism on Obesity in Different Populations – a systematic review”, supervised by Prof. Geraldo Argolo Ferraro, also coordinator of the undergraduate course.

The award consists of financial assistance for registering the work in other scientific events, in the amount of up to R$400,00, which can be requested within a period of up to 12 months after the award.
