The 20 years of the School's Psychology course Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública foram celebrados com a III Jornada de Psicologia da Bahiana, which took place on September 4th and was broadcast live on the institution's YouTube channel. The occasion also marked the inaugural class of the second semester's academic activities.

The occasion allowed the tribute to important figures in the history of the course over these 20 years, such as the first coordinator, Professor Rosária Correia, and the second coordinator, Professor Mônica Daltro, current coordinator of the Professional Master's Degree in Psychology and Health Interventions at the Bahiana.

The contributions of professors Anabela Queiroz, Maria Antonieta de Araújo and Lígia Villas Boas were also recognized. “It was a moment to share these very affectionate memories and narratives. Besides, like the previous ones, the III Jornada had the proposal to discuss the challenges of formation in Psychology, besides sharing experiences”, elucidated Sylvia Barreto.

The meeting ended with the presentation “História e Cantigas”, by Companhia Teatro Griô, an artistic intervention created especially for the journey.

“Since the course began 20 years ago, the concern has always been with careful training and with the active participation of professors and students, reaffirming our humanized perspective”, explains the course coordinator.

She points out that, when she took over the coordination, in 2014, she sought to build on the values already practiced by the Bahiana: “We have the co-responsibility to build a curriculum in Psychology that is effective and that always seeks care for the other through an affective gaze”.
