Digital Transformation was the theme of the XVI Pedagogical Forum of Bahiana
Virtual meeting was marked by the exchange of pedagogical experiences, which allowed the success of the institution's academic activities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic invited the entire world to reinvent itself. Each one, in their uniqueness or collectivity, was driven to reflect on their weaknesses and potential. Creating and undertaking new ways of doing and existing has become routine. In this whirlwind of new sensations, what was analog, necessarily, has become virtual, especially for those who know that, in order to take care of themselves and others in prevention and care for lives, physical distancing is necessary, so claimed social distancing. In this global context of innovations, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública held its XVI Pedagogical Forum in the virtual environment of the internet, with the theme: “Butterflies in digital transformation”. The telepresencial event took place on August 14th and 15th, with a record attendance of 303 subscribers.
Opening
Under the theme "Institutional Digital Transformation Process", the opening panel was initiated by the dean of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani who, in her speech, invited the participants to a deep reflection on the current situation and political position of the country regarding the impacts of the new coronavirus. "The day is for a party, but it requires reflection. We no longer have any doubts that the pandemic that affects us. There is not a democratic virus enough to affect, equally, rich, poor, white, Indians and blacks or underprivileged minorities, because he ran into three very Brazilian things: deep, shameful social inequality; indifference to the suffering of those who are not part of our small circle of people - an attitude that I sometimes think borders on psychopathy; and the third, mismanagement that kills us, confuses". In his speech, Soliani shared with those present the reading of the text "The March of the Dead", by journalist Eliane Brum, published on August 7 in the newspaper El País.
Maria Luisa ended her reflective lecture, once again, encouraging professors, collaborators and guest speakers, who listened to her, to continue dedicating themselves, with more determination, to the transformation and confrontations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. "I urge you to give your best, as we have done so far, even if that best is still flawed or perhaps not much, because we are human and have external and internal limits. However, it will always be possible to look at ourselves. and discovering how to do more or better, joining forces and increasing bonds with communities that need us and that we also need. In a collective responsibility for the present and the future. and health, our immense responsibility to train citizens who, more than competent technicians, are empathetic, loving and compassionate human beings. We are fortunate and privileged to constitute and build together the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública"He says.
After Dr. Maria Luisa's speech, it was the turn of the Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Education at Bahiana, professor Maria de Lourdes Freitas Gomes. According to her, the institution's digital transformation began in 2001, with the implementation of the Sagres system and, year after year, it was improved: "We strengthen ourselves based on our own institutional values. We spend this moment learning and teaching. We spend a lot of time communicating and serving. Serving was welcoming. Regarding entrepreneurship, we are undertaking other ways of doing things and this gives us a feeling of duty accomplished. We will move into the second semester with new challenges, but we are safe and we see the results of our efforts in the satisfaction of teachers and students.”
Panel: Digital transformation process in undergraduate courses
The second panel included presentations by undergraduate coordinators who shared their experiences on the digitalization of the teaching-learning process in each course. "How communication facilitated the process of digital transformation" was the theme chosen by the coordinator of the Biomedicine course, Geraldo Ferraro. Prof. Clarcson Plácido, coordinator of the Physical Education course, presented his experience under the theme "Learning with the new and creating utopias". "Shared management and interdisciplinarity" was the motto chosen by the coordinator of the Nursing course, Prof. Simone Passos, to talk about the process of adaptation of this graduation. In turn, the coordinator of the Physiotherapy course, Prof. Luciana Bilitário, shared her experience as a leader with her peers, under the theme "Empowerment of semester leaders and consolidation of work by competence".
The second block of the panel began with a speech by the coordinator of the NEAD and the Health Informatics course, Prof. Marta Menezes, at the time representing the Coordination of the Medicine course. Within the theme "Experience with a simulated patient by an actor in a digital environment", she presented some paths traced in the formation of skills in medical learning. Thus, reports focused on the doctor-patient relationship were presented, even in distance learning.
"Creativities and methodological innovations in digital education" was the theme of the Dentistry course, another training also very based on practice, presented by the undergraduate coordinator, prof. Urbino Tunis. The course carried out new ways to develop students' skills, such as video classes, web conferences and discussion forums, also enabling students to present their work in video format.
The sensitive speech of the coordinator of the Psychology course, Prof. Sylvia Barreto, was about the theme "Successful practices and collective work". In her presentation, the teacher highlighted the experience of cartography of social isolation, developed with students in the 4th semester, in which students mapped their homes and their routine environments during quarantine.
Finally, the theme "Collaborative practices and care strategies" was presented by the coordinator of the Common Nucleus, Prof. Luciana Oliveira who, with a poetic language, shared with those present the experience of collective production in the work process with students. "We knew that we had many challenges, but we saw that we also had a lot of creativity", highlighted Luciana Oliveira.
Second day of programming
A brand already established in the institution's events, Coral Canta Bahiana opened the activities on the second day of the forum. After the artistic intervention, it was the turn of the participants to be led by the dean to a meditative and reflective experience on the current context of the country.
The last pedagogical activity of the program was the table “Learning mediated by digital technology”, which brought as guests the researcher and author of books and articles in the field of psychopedagogy and education, Prof. M.ª Laura Monte Serrat Barbosa, with the theme "How does an institution learn?"; the director of learning and content at Afya and the co-founder and board member of Wide, a company focused on designing cutting-edge educational projects, prof. Dr. Rodrigo Paiva, who spoke about "The impacts of the present in the brief future of adult education. Challenges, cases and the new role of the teacher", and prof. Dr. Humberto Castro Lima Filho, medical director of Bahiana Health and professor at the institution, who presented a reflection on "Can Neuroscience help me to be a better teacher?". The activity was mediated by Professor Marta Menezes and had more than 210 participants.
The big surprise this year was the special award of the Borboleguim de Ouro trophy, which was dedicated to all professors for their commitment and efforts to offer students the best learning experience, in a welcoming and humanized way. Thus, all participants received a 3D version of the award on their mobile phones.
