“Felicidade me define neste momento! A razão disso? A medalha de prata inédita que ganhei!”. Essa foi a sensação de Renê Campos ao conquistar o segundo lugar na Copa do Mundo de Remo 2019, que aconteceu em Roterdã, na Holanda, nos dias 12 a 14 de julho. O remador brasileiro que é patrocinado pela Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, is also an alumnus of the institution's Medicine course and won a silver medal in the PR1 Male Single Skiff (PR1 M1x) category of the competition.

Renê Campos is a para-athlete with a great history of overcoming difficulties during the championships in which he participated and tells how he manages to improve his work. “The technical improvement could be seen in the reduction of time to complete the test, the result of intense training, but also of some partnerships that made it possible to set up a multidisciplinary team. An example of a partnership is the School Bahiana of Medicine, fundamental in the creation of the Training Camp (CT) in Pituaçu, allowing the replacement of training that until then took place only in a simulator, with training in the water”.

Since he started his career as a rower, the athlete from Bahia has already conquered the bi-championship of South American Adapted Rowing and was among the five best in other world rowing competitions. Renê Campos is now working to get a seat at the Tokyo 2020 Games, with the aim of winning the Paralympic medal.
