Adjunct Professor IV (retired) at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and is currently Full Professor in the Periodontics area of ​​the Dentistry course at BAHIANA; minister of the Brazilian Dental Association / Bahia and the Brazilian Dental Association / Sergipe.

Na área administrativa, foi Diretor da Faculdade de Odontologia da UFBA e é Coordenador do curso de Graduação e Pós-graduação em Odontologia da BAHIANA, presidindo a Comissão Própria de Avaliação (CPA), tendo sido também membro do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa (CEP).
