Special program marked the I Elderly Health Fair

Event featured stands, lectures, workshops and dance classes.

A diverse program marked the I Elderly Health Fair, performed by the Physiotherapy Clinic of the Medical Center of Bahiana with the aim of disseminating information and guidance on health to elderly patients at the clinic, promoting moments of leisure and exchange of experiences.

O evento contou os stands de Prevenção e riscos de quedas com os fisioterapeutas egressos da Bahiana Lucas Pedroso e Gabriel Venas; Artrose e osteoporose com os fisioterapeutas Luís Cláudio Oliveira, Marcela Freitas e o presidente e estudante de fisioterapia da  Unifacs, participante da Liga Acadêmica Multidisciplinar de Geriatria e Gerontologia (Lagger), Bruno Simões; Saúde do homem e da mulher que abordou o tema sexualidade na terceira idade, prevenção de DSTs e a importância de se prevenir com as fisioterapeutas Débora Sales e Keite Rios; Tabagismo em que foi abordada a importância de parar de fumar, as consequências do uso do cigarro e foram realizados alguns testes com os idosos; Hipertensão e diabetes com  orientações sobre prática de atividade física, equilíbro na alimentação e aferição de pressão arterial e glicemia com o apoio de técnicas de enfermagem do Centro Médico da Bahiana Saúde; Alimentação saudável com indicações de alimentação e dicas de receitas saudáveis com Dra. Claudete Varela, enfermeira do Centro Médico da Bahiana Cheers.

     
Visitors to the fair also had the opportunity to attend the lectures "Technologies to kill nostalgia" with Adelino Mont'Alverne, coordinator of the communication course at Faculdade Ruy Barbosa, who discussed the use of social networks by the elderly and how these tools can be useful in communication, especially to ease the longing for someone who is far away; "Religiosity and health", taught by Gabriel Matheus Dutra, physiotherapist at the clinic and "Importance of physical activity in the elderly", by Rebeca Gomes, physical education professional and professor of hydrogymnastics at the Physiotherapy Clinic.

As recreational activities, the program promoted a memory workshop that worked with the association of images of different facts to the memories of the life of each one of the participants and exercises for memory with the members of the Academic Psychiatry League of Bahiana (LAP). There was also a handicraft workshop given by the patient from the Physiotherapy Clinic Mrs. Zélia Lefundes, who taught the participants how to make Christmas ornaments.  
     
The event ended with ballroom dancing and fitdance classes with teachers Aguinaldo Lima and Marcos Freitas.

To participate in the activities, it was requested the donation of blankets and food that will be destined for the NGOs:  Together we are more, which helps homeless people and the San Francisco Home who takes care of the elderly. In all, 36 blankets and 78 kg of food were collected and delivered to those responsible for each organization.

The event had the support of LocCPAP with the donation of elastic bands for stretching and apparatus for breathing training, AlmaFit which provided healthy snacks without lactose, gluten and sugar, Gostosuras do Mundo which also participated with healthy snacks and Ponto das Store Parties that donated craft items, ribbons, ornaments, thread and felt to make the decorations.
