A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Are 10 laboratories, 21 theatres, of class e 1 auditorium to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 30 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. “They talk so much about a new era / they almost forget the eternal is.” Gilberto Gil’s verses echoed as a starting point for the XII Forum of the Youth Care Center (CAJU), held on Friday (3), in the Cabula Campus Auditorium. With the theme “Artificial Intelligence in Education: arts and artifices,” the meeting brought together students, teachers, young apprentices, and researchers to reflect on the impacts of AI on academic training and the ethical production of science and technology. Professor Luíza Ribeiro, director of Artistic and Cultural Development at Bahiana, emphasized the forum's collective nature: "The connection between universities, schools, and communities is essential for us to envision an education that unites ethics, science, and technology. It is in this encounter between generations that learning expands."
The opening lecture was led by Professor Edméa dos Santos (UFRRJ/UERJ), who has been researching education and cyberculture for decades. For her, the advancement of generative artificial intelligence marks a profound shift in the way we produce knowledge: "AIs are changing our ways of creating and thinking. But we need to challenge this field and combat algorithmic racism, data colonialism, and include non-white, non-urban, and non-male people in technology production." In a poetic and political speech, Professor Fábio Giorgio, coordinator of CAJU, reminded us that the topic is "unavoidable" and must be addressed with listening and presence: "There are many aspects to the debate surrounding AI. Some fear the replacement of humans, others see new possibilities. Our role is to reflect on the limits and potential of this time."
Amanda Sobral, a sixth-semester Psychology student and forum moderator, highlighted the human dimension that no machine can match: "Artificial intelligence lacks presence. And it's presence that makes human work happen—the seeing, the feeling, the building together. It can support, but not replace." Thiago Simas, a student at Roberto Santos State School, said he uses AI to support learning, but with caution: "It depends on how we use it. If it's just meant to replace effort, it ends up hindering more than helping." The morning concluded with a roundtable discussion moderated by Professor Marco Silva (UERJ) and a jam session by the Itapagipe Peninsula Young Protagonists Network (Reprotai). Integrating art, music, and technology, the moment reaffirmed that, compared to machines, the human remains the greatest resource.&nbsp;

XI Forum of the Youth Care Center (CAJU)

“University Extension: towards a countercolonial poetics”. This was the theme of the X Forum of the Youth Care Center (CAJU) which took place on September 29th, in the green area of ​​the Cabula campus. In its tenth edition, the CAJU Forum mobilized participants around the understanding of University Extension as countercolonial poetics, that is, a place of transit and sharing of knowledge and practices, where sciences and health training are deterritorialized by knowledge and folk healing and care practices. The idea was to hold a dialogue about extension as a vehicle for tension and critical provocation towards science and health training. The opening of the event was attended by the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, the dean of Extension, Dr. Carolina Pedroza, as well as the coordinator of CAJU, prof. Fábio Azevedo. "In these ten years, there have been several transformations of what was the initial idea of ​​CAJU, based on contacts with the demands of the communities, which led us to establish, in fact, an extension activity center aimed at promoting mental health of youth that involve students from the Bahiana, as students from the communities in which we work. With this focus, we have, over time, developed several projects such as self-narratives, exchanges of letters, musical initiatives, photography. We have a comprehensive and transversal vision of mental health. I am very happy, because for all these years we have received support from Bahiana in everything we have needed to carry out our actions", declared the CAJU coordinator. The program included a kite making and handling workshop as a creative artistic activity, with social educator and choreographer Hebert Silva Santos. The highlight of the event was the conversation circle, "What and who is extension for?", which brought as guests the professor of authorial fashion designer Carol Barreto, the pedagogue and master in Education and Health, Selma Sousa, the psychologist from Instituto Oyá, Luciele Sales and architect and urban planner, Lucas Castro. The meeting was mediated by the Psychology course professor and member of CAJU, Dr. Milena Lisboa. Students from the Bahiana, members of the Network of Protagonists in Action of Itapagipe (Reprotai) and high school students. "We brought our students from Colégio Estadual Roberto Santos to experience this incredible exchange of ideas, exchange of knowledge. I congratulate Bahiana for the work done and, for us teachers, it was a very rich experience", said high school teacher, Jane Mary.

CAJU Forum turns 10 years old

Discussions on the promotion of mental health among young people in the context of the pandemic in synchrony with moments of relaxation and art were highlighted in the VIII edition of the Forum of CAJU (Center for Attention to Youth). The event had as its main theme "The sensitivity in rough times" and took place on October 29, live, through the channel of <a style="color: #007bff; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niHJp016Eng" target="_blank" rel="noopener">YouTube</a> da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The action presented the CAJU outreach programs, through reflections on ethical, aesthetic and political aspects involved in care practices. As explained by the teacher at Bahiana and event coordinator, Fábio Giorgio Azevedo, the themes addressed, to use a metaphor, referred to perceiving “a flower (or poetry, hope) that springs from the nausea of ​​everyday life”.&nbsp; Thus, the Forum's program included artistic interventions that stimulated the ethical and political sensitivity of the participants, promoting the exercise of listening, and also featured lectures by professors Dr. Rodrigo Cariri, Maria Lúcia Lima, Milena Lisboa, Mayara Novais, Paulo Oliveira and Veridiana Machado. The Psychology student and CAJU member, Nathalia Reis Martins, mediated the initiative.&nbsp; The event was also the stage for the launch of <a style="color: #007bff; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://issuu.com/reviztavirgula/docs/revizta_virgula" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Revitta Comma</a>, presented by some of the members of the project "Itinerant Mental Health Community" (CISMA), who were students Natália Mesquita, Nábile Carvalho, Rodrigo Mendonça, Raphael Gadelha and Catarina Lisboa. The project is one of the extension programs of CAJU. video-performance "This Flag is Ours", produced and directed by students from Bahiana, in partnership with youth from REPROTAI - Itapagipe's Young Protagonists Network, marked the end of the VIII CAJU.
