A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Are 10 laboratories, 21 rooms of class e 1 auditorium to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 30 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. The Cabula Campus is also home to the Dental Center of Bahiana, where the Teaching-Care Outpatient Clinic is located, a practical field for the quality training of Dentistry students, from the 4th semester of the course, under the supervision of professors, and which has capacity to serve up to 120 patients simultaneously, and Ontological clinic, providing private and accessible service to the population, performed by highly qualified professionals. <a style="color: #007bff; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://en.bahiana.edu.br/laboratorios-de-ensino-campus-cabula/">Discover the teaching laboratories.</a>

The Public Health III component of the Dentistry course at Bahiana, held, on November 14, in a remote format, the biannual symposium "The Consumption of Psychoactive Substances in the Field of Bioethics - Does your training qualify you to care for people who use drugs?". The event was coordinated by students of the component and by professors Marlene Barreto Santos Miranda and Ricardo Araújo Silva. Agenda Throughout the morning, participants listened to speeches by the following guests: Dr. Gerivaldo Neiva, judge and law professor, who addressed issues related to addiction and the decriminalization and legalization of drugs; psychologists Thais Melo do Desterro Passos and Rannye Gabrielle Fagundes Teixeira, who addressed the role of psychology in caring for people who use psychoactive substances. "Harm reduction as a tool for reducing the consumption of psychoactive substances" was the topic of the speech by guest Renato Souza, who works at the adult shelter on the Itapagipe peninsula. Dentist Dr. Endy Lacet brought to the discussion the topic "The therapeutic aspects of cannabis in different types of dental treatments." "We need this debate to have this humanized perspective and seek this treatment in a comprehensive and more humane way", summarized Dentistry student Ana Luiza Azevedo de Paula, who was part of the symposium's organizing committee.

The event took place remotely on November 14th.

Psychoactive Substances in the Field of Bioethics

Does your training qualify you to care for people who use drugs? The question was the theme of the VIII Symposium on Psychoactive Substances in the Field of Bioethics, held on the morning of November 23, via the Zoom platform. The event, which is coordinated by professors Marlene Barreto and Ricardo Araújo da Silva, takes place every semester and is an initiative of the curricular component Public Health III, of the Dentistry course, which covers students in the 7th semester, in addition to being open to all the academic community of Bahiana. The opening lecture had as its theme "National Policy on Drugs: Contributions from the Federal Council of Psychology Psychologist Clarissa Guedes/Federal Council of Psychology" and was given by psychologist Clarissa Guedes, member of the Federal Council of Psychology. The theme "Cannabis Dentistry" was addressed by the dental surgeon, prescriber of medicinal cannabis Dr. Endy Lacet. The last speech was by psychologist Danilo Locatelli, who brought as a provocation "Reflections on the Drug Policy agenda in Brazil". According to professor Marlene Barreto, the purpose of the symposium is to discuss contemporary issues related to the consumption and consumers of psychoactive substances, in the context of an expanded clinic. “The students who are here will find people, within the logic of care, who use these substances, whether legally or illegally. The issue is that, as this problem is supported by the issue of morality, which falls within the scope of the police, prejudice and stigma, and does not enter the logic of care in our country, it appears that we, in dentistry, are outside place when we discuss the issue of the use of psychoactive substances”, explained Marlene.&nbsp;

The event is an initiative of the Collective Health III curricular component of the Dentistry course.

VII Symposium – “Psychoactive substances in the field of bioethics”

The publication by Editora Dialética was an initiative of the Fátima Cavalcanti Harm Reduction Alliance and brings together texts by professors, researchers, workers and undergraduate and graduate students who developed activities linked to the Alliance and the Gregório Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and other Drugs of Matos. Among the authors, there is also the professor of the Specialization in Mental Health and Primary Care course at Bahiana, Marlene Miranda. The copyright was transferred to the Alliance, in order to allow the continuation of projects aimed at homeless people who abuse drugs. According to prof. Gerfson, the initiative represents an effort to systematize and produce visibility of the experiences produced by the Harm Reduction Alliance. "All the experiences are marked by the ethical and political commitment to harm reduction, in dialogue with the various ways in which it was produced in Brazil. It is worth noting that, within the logic of the expanded clinic and networked services, these inter-institutional partnerships , as here in the case of Bahiana and at UFBA, are very important for mental health care.” Prof. Gerfson explains that students from the Specialization Course in Mental Health and Primary Care participate in practical activities, such as internships and research, at Aliança and CAPS.
