A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

Are 7 laboratories, 23 rooms of class e 2 auditoriums to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 37 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. The Cabula Campus is also home to the Dental Center of Bahiana, where the Teaching-Care Outpatient Clinic is located, a field of practice for the quality training of dentistry students, from the 4th semester of the course, under the supervision of professors and has ability to serve up to 120 patients simultaneously. Marking the World Day for the Prevention of Stroke, celebrated on October 26, the Behavior and Neurofunctional Rehabilitation Research Group of Bahiana carried out a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional activity involving undergraduate and graduate students from the Bahiana, students from academic leagues at UNEB and professionals from the Stroke Unit of Hospital Roberto Santos. The activity took place in two stages, the first being awareness-raising with the explanation of stroke care and symptoms and distribution of educational material in the waiting rooms of the Medical Center of Bahiana Health and, the second, in the Physiotherapy Clinic of Bahiana with care for patients who suffered a stroke and were discharged. The coordinator of the research group, Prof. Elen Beatriz, explains that “talking about stroke is talking about measures that help to avoid the episode, but also working with individuals who have had a stroke about disability. We see more and more young individuals being affected by this problem. So the discussion today is about the ways these individuals should work towards their rehabilitation.”

Research group carries out activity on World Stroke Prevention Day

The Motor Behavior and Neurofunctional Rehabilitation Research Group, linked to Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, held, on the 27th and 29th of October, an activity with patients from the Teaching-Care Clinic of the Bahiana (ADAB) for the passage of the World Day to Combat Stroke (CVA), celebrated on October 29th. Stroke is the second leading cause of death in the world and the leading cause of disability. The multidisciplinary initiative had the participation of undergraduate students linked to the research group and members of Scientific Initiation (Physical Therapy and Medicine courses), as well as postgraduate students of the Master's in Technologies and Health and Doctorate in Medicine and Human Health. The action had the support of Rede Brasil AVC, which provided the information material used in the campaign, and a partnership with the Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy Research Group at Bahiana (GEPFIR), coordinated by teacher Cristiane Dias. Physiotherapists Mayra Castro, Marina Makhoul, Iara Maso, Carla Ferreira, Viviane Brenneisen, Maria Eduarda Carvalho and Cláudia Furtado, volunteers specialized in Neurofunctional Rehabilitation, performed specific interventions for post-stroke individuals, distributed at previously scheduled times. Patients were evaluated and stimulated with the facilitation of functional performance in different activities and were instructed about the prevention of secondary complications in different systems and the occurrence of a new stroke event. According to the professor of the Physiotherapy course and coordinator of the research group, Élen Beatriz Carneiro Pinto, in the activity that integrates teaching, research and extension, a direct feedback to the community was promoted, especially for patients who suffered stroke and who participate of the research projects developed by the group. "An excellent multidisciplinary experience for those involved, who had the opportunity of practical learning in educational actions in health and neurofunctional rehabilitation", declared the professor.

With the participation of undergraduate and graduate students, the activity involved ADAB patients and users.

Research group takes action for the passage of the World Day to Combat Stroke (CVA)

A study carried out by Bahiana, in partnership with the Hospital Roberto Santos – HGRS and the University of the State of Bahia – UNEB, gained international prominence by being published by the renowned scientific journal&nbsp;Plos One, an open access publication with high impact in the field of science and medicine. The research was coordinated by Professor Élen Beatriz Pinto, professor of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Programs in Medicine and Human Health and Master's in Health Technologies at Bahiana. Entitled “Investigating Predictors of Community Integration in Individuals After Stroke in a Residential Setting: A Longitutinal Study”, the research was carried out at the Cerebral Vascular Accident Unit of Hospital Geral Roberto Santos (UAVC-HGRS), in Salvador, and published in the scientific journal , in the month of June. The work was developed in partnership with the Motor Behavior and Neurofunctional Rehabilitation Research Group of Bahiana and with the HGRS, being the product of the Master in Technologies and Health of the Bahiana physiotherapist Isabela Matos and speech therapist Adriana Fernandes, supervised by teacher Élen Beatriz Pinto. Neurologists Pedro Antônio de Jesus, who is the coordinator of the UAVC-HGRS, and Dr. Jamary Oliveira Filho also participated in the study. “Stroke is one of the main causes of death and disability in Brazil and in the world. Furthermore, despite advances in treatments, it is known that a significant number of survivors have limitations in functional performance and social participation.&nbsp;This article is the first Brazilian study to investigate community reintegration in a cohort of stroke survivors.”, explains teacher Élen Beatriz. The researcher says that all evaluations in the study were carried out in the context of home visits, that is, in the environment in which individuals interact, with a representative sample of all the Health Districts of Salvador. “It is also important to highlight the support of the State University of Bahia, especially through Dr. Helena Fraga Maia, a researcher with expertise in studies in the field of public health”. For Professor Élen Beatriz Pinto, the research was very significant, as it broadened the perspective of study and brought researchers closer to the reality of those involved, which helped in understanding the aspects that cause the reduction of social interactions and compromise the reintegration of individuals into the community. . “This knowledge favors the systematization of rehabilitation programs and helps to define specific conducts”, he concludes.
