For the continuous improvement of products and services, the indicators of the CPA (Self-Assessment Committee) feedback are monitored, which provide valuable data to guide strategic improvement actions.
FREE INTERNET ACCESS - Internet access is via wireless network (EDURoam – Education Roaming), a global mobility service developed for the community.
SERVICE TO THE EXTERNAL COMMUNITY - The external community can visit our units and use the collection for on-site consultation and study, as well as access computers with specific research and study policies. Access is managed through registration in the system as an external reader, and proof of residence, ID, and CPF (Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry) are required.
SPECIALIZED EDUCATIONAL SERVICES - From the perspective of inclusive education, we offer specialized educational services that enable the development of strategies to enable students to interact, communicate, and construct their learning independently, considering specific needs, organizing pedagogical and accessibility resources (physical, informational, digital), prioritizing equality of conditions, developing autonomy, and promoting digital, educational, and social inclusion.
SERVICE TO THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITY - The service involves various services and activities adapting to new demands, trends and technological innovations, seeking to offer more dynamic and welcoming spaces for the academic community.
LOAN – This service is for the exclusive use of registered students, faculty, and staff, and requires presentation of a student ID card or employee identification badge. Collection will not be permitted for those who are late returning any publications or have outstanding fines.
• For undergraduate and graduate students and employees – up to 02 volumes.
• For teachers and monitors – up to 03 volumes.
• The length of stay is eight days during the academic term and 15 days during academic holidays.
• Users who return the title(s) before the established return date will accumulate bonuses, according to their advance payment. For every 30 bonuses, an additional book will be allowed to be borrowed.
RENOVATION – Renewals can be carried out in two ways, in person or online, and under the following conditions:
• may be carried out up to the established return date;
• online up to 3 times, if there are no “reservations” for the same work;
• in-person attendance is unlimited, if there are no “reservations” for the same work.
RETURN – Materials borrowed must be returned exclusively to the loan desk. Therefore, items left on the Library's tables, counters, and shelves will not be considered returned. Returns must be made under the following conditions:
• must be carried out at the Library where the material was borrowed and by the scheduled return date;
• Material returned after the deadline will result in a financial fine per day and per book quantity.
Reserve – The service follows the chronological order in which reservations were made.
• Reservation of titles is permitted when there are no copies available for loan.
• When the book is available, an email is automatically sent to notify you.
• The reserved book will be available for 48 hours, counting from the time it is returned to the Library.
• Failure by the user to collect the book within the deadline will automatically result in the cancellation of the reservation.
DOSVOX ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY – It consists of providing computing resources, with screen reading, based on the intensive use of voice synthesis, adaptive interfaces and integrated programs to assist people with visual impairments, providing autonomy, independence and quality of life.
• Keyboard with black expansive letter – features enlarged keys, highlighted in yellow, and black letters with high visual contrast. It was designed for people with low vision, allowing letters to be enlarged up to five times compared to a conventional keyboard for easier viewing.
• Audio description headset – feature that allows the translation of images into words.
• Haptic mouse – device that consists of producing an interface with vibrating elements that can send information to the user, giving him the ability to two-dimensional spatial orientation and signal objects in a computer interface environment.
• NVDA (In Visual Desktop Access) – is free, open-source software that acts as a screen reader. It allows people with visual impairments, such as the blind, to navigate and interact with Windows computers, accessing information through synthetic speech or Braille devices.
• ABBYY Platform – the purpose of ABBYY FineReader software is to perform optical character recognition (OCR), transforming scanned documents, PDF documents and image files, including digital photos, into editable and searchable texts, for the purpose of accessing documents for people with visual impairments.
• Retractable magnifying glass with lighting – a feature that allows text and images to be enlarged for people with low vision, making them more readable and accessible.
USER TRAINING PROGRAM - The program aims to promote the development of information skills within the academic community, increasing the autonomy and quality of research and activities.
• Library Presentation – It is carried out through a guided tour, with information on the spaces, services, regulations and a demonstration of the collections (especially for freshmen).
• Guidance on the use of databases and tools – Training on research platforms, such as: Capes Journal Portal; Institutional Repository; Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD).
• Guidance on using reference management – Training in the use of tools that help organize bibliographic references and prepare citations and references.
• Guidance on the preparation and standardization of technical-scientific works.
• Guidance on the use of online sources and tools for accessing information.
CATALOGING IN PUBLICATION – Cataloging in publication is the process of describing and cataloging a work (such as a book or thesis) before its official publication. The main objective is to generate a cataloging record, which contains essential bibliographic information such as author, title, subject, publisher, and ISBN, facilitating the identification and retrieval of the work in libraries and information systems. This record is included in the publication, on the back of the title page, and is an important element for organizing and disseminating the material.
INTERLIBRARY LOANS (EEB) - It is a service that allows you to request the loan of bibliographic materials that are not available in the institutional collection, but exist in other partner libraries or with a cooperation agreement with the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.
REPROGRAPHY - A copy service that allows the reproduction of short excerpts from bibliographic materials available in the reference section, as an aid to research activities. Its use follows the guidelines of Copyright Law (Law No. 9.610/98), which guarantees authors the exclusive right to reproduce and dispose of their work. The law allows for some exceptions for reprographics in libraries: the reproduction of short excerpts of works and the reproduction of works in formats accessible to the visually impaired.
LUGGAGE STORAGE SERVICE - It is intended exclusively for the safekeeping of users' belongings during their stay at the Library. To access the lock, users must request keys at the Service Desk, which are controlled by the IN-LOCKER system. The key is the user's responsibility and must remain with them during their stay at the Library. The Library is not responsible for any valuables or objects left there. If the lock is lost or damaged, the user will be required to provide a refund.
INSTITUTIONAL WEB TV - It is a communication channel for transmitting information, news, educational and institutional content to the academic community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
MULTIMEDIA STATION - Microcomputers with Internet and Intranet access, to enable consultation of the Library's collection, research in databases, virtual library, student portal, periodical portal, etc.
