ADAB laboratory receives ISO 9001

Certification proves search for Bahiana for the excellence of its services.

Last Monday, June 9, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública celebrated yet another achievement: the laboratory of its Teaching-Assistential Outpatient Clinic has just received ISO 9001:2008 certification, for the quality and good practices of its services. Many sectors were involved in an adjustment process that started about five years ago.

"We usually say that this is a process that involves a lot of people. It's a hand-to-hand job, close to each team. It's a job that has a lot to teach each person. Quality is culture. It's no use presenting changes. We have a lot of work. to involve people so that they can follow the method and that together we can walk", explains the quality manager at Bahiana, Luciana Branco.

She says that today the Bahiana it already presents positive results, as it has managers capable of identifying weaknesses so that they can be resolved quickly, ensuring good practices and quality service.

At the time, the laboratory, the Human Resources, Purchasing, Warehouse, Controllership, the Information Technology and Quality Management Centers, in addition to the Equipment Maintenance Sector were honored.

"We are very happy today, because we celebrate another achievement of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, which is the certification of our pathology laboratory with ISO 9001. This is very important to us because it is within our mission to seek excellence in all our services. Of course we are not going to stop there. We will also take this quality to our academic area, seeking certification for all our courses, starting with Medicine", declared the director of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani.

According to the laboratory's manager, Márcia Moreira, the certification is the result of work that has been going on for a long time. "This work began with the inauguration of the new laboratory and also with the thought of Prof. Humberto Castro Lima to create an excellent service to serve ADAB users and also Biomedicine students who develop their knowledge there. "he stated.

"The quality process is important and fundamental for any institution. For the Bahiana it is an opportunity for us to adjust measurements and quality. It is an institution focused on quality. So, quality processes materialize our focus. The certification came to enrich and be expanded in all its dimensions within the institution", declared the manager of the Human Resources Center, Telma Bastos.

The evaluation of Bahiana by the certifying institution took place on the 28th and 30th of April, the date on which the result was announced. According to Luciana Branco, even with the certification, the Quality Management Center will continue with internal audits to verify the progress of work processes, ensuring the maintenance of the quality standard.
