A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública received, on the morning of last Friday (31), the incoming students of the 2026.2 semester during another edition of New from Bahiana, held at the Cabula Campus. With the theme "Why the Bahiana "Is it a School of Healthy Health?", the program invited freshmen to reflect on the principles that guide the academic and humanistic training of the institution. The opening was led by the manager of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), Angélica Mendes, and the director of Artistic and Cultural Development, Professor Luiza Ribeiro, who presented institutional initiatives aimed at the well-being of the academic community, such as the program Bahiana Green, which encourages the use of individual bottles to reduce the consumption of disposable cups, and the new policy on the use of cell phones during academic activities, whose guidelines are included in the Student Handbook.

Throughout the morning, the new students were divided into three groups to participate in different activities. The program included presentations by the coordinators of each course, classroom meetings with discussions about self-care and caring for others, as well as a tour of the campus to familiarize themselves with the facilities. During one of the welcoming sessions, the coordinator of the Psychology course, Sylvia Barreto, highlighted the importance of collective construction in the training of future health professionals. "We believe that the Bahiana "It's a healthy school because we focus on collaborative work; we'll have moments alone, but most of the time we'll be with other people," she stated, wishing the new students a journey marked by the connection between self-care, care for others, and care for society.

The reception was also marked by the enthusiasm of the new students. Júlia Cunha Matos, a first-year medical student, said that...
