The 35th Science with Acarajé event discusses how neuromodulation is transforming the brain.

A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública On May 28th, the Cabula Campus hosted the 35th edition of "Science with Acarajé," an event organized by the PET Biomedicine program that aims to bring science closer to the academic community in an accessible and dynamic way. The main activity of the event was the lecture "Neuromodulation: how medical devices transform the brain," given by Professor Derick Modena, who discussed the technological advances that are revolutionizing the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological conditions.

During the afternoon, participants were able to attend the Lattes Curriculum Workshop, taught by Prof. MSc. Ítalo Lima, and the mini-course "Immersion in Human Anatomy: Practical experience with cadavers," with Prof. Felipe Pitangueira.

Among the participants, Biomedical student Júlia Nascimento, who is also part of the PET Biomedicine program, highlighted the event's relevance to her education. “For me, Ciência com Acarajé is a very special and essential event, uniting Bahian culture with acarajé, along with science, especially with this topic which, for me, is new: neuromodulation, a super important topic for the field of biomedicine,” she stated. In addition to the scientific content, the event maintained its tradition of promoting moments of fellowship and exchange of experiences among participants, concluding the program with the distribution of acarajés.
