The 8th semester Nursing students of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde PúblicaNadja Silva, Mirela Kaila, Nayla Joaquina, Laís Lisboa, Dayana Silva, and Mirella Antelo, under the supervision of nurse Márcia Moreira, developed and implemented the TEMPO DOA project at the Roberto Santos General Hospital (HGRS), with institutional reach since its inception. The initiative was recognized as the Best Project at the 16th Nursing Week of HGRS.

According to Márcia Moreira, during a lecture by the Hospital Donation for Transplantation Team (E-DOT) and while experiencing a cornea donation at HGRS, "it was possible to identify potential donors being lost in silence and, on the other hand, patients waiting for a chance that never came. Faced with this reality, it was impossible to remain inactive." According to her, the initiative restructured the death notification flow by replacing email submission with a standardized form via intranet, providing greater speed, security, and traceability to the process, with automatic transmission to E-DOT, NIR, and Social Services, with a notification target of up to 60 minutes after death.

As a follow-up, an institutional Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was also developed, currently in the approval phase, aiming to formalize the established protocol. The results recorded since April 23, 2026, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposal: 100% of notifications made in less than 60 minutes; 100% of eligible deaths evaluated by E-DOT/CIHDOTT; 100% compliance with the institutional protocol. The initiative strengthens the recruitment of potential organ, tissue, and cornea donors, and has been recognized with the Best Project award for its impact on the quality of care and the preservation of life.
