Letter of Introduction for the Prosef Medicine Program 2027.1

It is with great joy and satisfaction that we announce the resumption of a creation by BahianaThe Formative Selection Process (Prosef) for Medicine in 2027.1. Prosef reflects the institution's culture of thinking about a more humanized health education, and we consider this resumption fundamental for this moment in medical education in Brazil.  

The Formative Selection Process was groundbreaking and became a benchmark throughout Brazil, as it is a selection process model that connects with students and has been implemented since 2009 – we took a necessary break during the Covid-19 pandemic, and it hadn't yet been possible to return to the original format. Now is the time to resume this experience, which speaks volumes about... Bahiana and his way of teaching Medicine. 

This training tool is designed so that the selection process can also be an opportunity for critical reflection on the field of health and the role of medical professionals in building a better and more humane society; in addition, it is also a way of caring for the physical and mental health of the candidates. 

Therefore, we will return to this format for the 2027.1 selection process for the Medicine course, which will now consist of 3 stages: 

1) Objective Test: there will be 45 multiple-choice questions; 

2) Experience: non-classification stage, but mandatory (only candidates called in the 1st stage will proceed to the 2nd and 3rd stages of the process); 

3) Essay and Writing Test: there will be 10 essay questions.

This format was designed to provide a more appropriate environment for conducting the exams, distributing them across 3 different phases and making them less lengthy than the previous model. The dates for these phases will be announced at the beginning of the second semester of this year, along with the official announcement.
