The Biomedicine course at Bahiana The university celebrated its 23 years of history, achievements, and consolidation with the event "Biomedical Scientist Day" at the Cabula Campus, bringing together faculty, students, and guests. Throughout the morning, lectures were held focusing on the fields of work for biomedical scientists. "The topics were chosen so that students can truly understand how the biomedical universe works, because within Biomedicine, we have more than 30 specializations, and many students are not familiar with all of them," explained Professor Indira Ayama de Souza Tupina, coordinator of the event.
Throughout the morning, lectures were given by biomedical professionals on Sanitary Surveillance, Hematology, Forensic Science, and Aesthetics. But, at the same time that it was difficult, we managed to establish many partnerships with clinics, and today the biomedical professional is already recognized for this area," says Andrade. Andrade says that studying biomedicine was the best choice of his life. "During the course, we learned about the qualifications of a biomedical professional, and when this qualification in aesthetics emerged, I embraced it, and today I feel fulfilled because it's what I was born to do," said the biomedical professional, who has had his own clinic for 4 years.
According to coordinator Geraldo Ferraro, throughout its 23 years, the Biomedicine course at Bahiana It opened up many possibilities for biomedical professionals, being a pioneer in Brazil in several areas, such as Bioimaging. "The Biomedicine course at Bahiana Today, it's a well-established field in the market. People know what biomedicine is and seek it as their first choice, and now we're emerging with new areas of expertise like aesthetics. I emphasize research as a very good area for biomedical professionals. Recently, one of our alumni, Caíque Almeida, defended his doctoral thesis abroad and was hired by a hospital in Memphis (USA) to work with pediatric cancer. Like him, other alumni fill us with pride!"
