Pavilion III of the Campus Brotas hosted, on the morning of October 13th, a special program that combined celebration, care and awareness around Physiotherapist's Day and the Pink October campaign. Promoted by the Supervised Internship in Physiotherapy III, the event brought together patients from the Physiotherapy Clinic and employees of Bahiana in a morning of activities focused on health promotion, self-care, and professional development. The activities were led by professors João Coelho, Giovana Bergheme, and Rachel Trinchão.
Aiming to recognize the role of physical therapists and encourage self-care, the initiative featured a dance class, followed by art workshops and relaxation sessions that provided moments of relaxation, integration, and reflection on the importance of prevention and health care. Professor Giovana Bergheme explained that the initiative also encouraged attitudinal development in the students' education. "This moment of exchange was incredibly important for our students. We place a high value on attitudinal development, not only for the development of skills and competencies, but also for how it, integrated into education and healthcare, can promote these actions," she emphasized.
The coordinator of the Physiotherapy course, Dr. Luciana Bilitário, emphasized the inclusive nature of the meeting. "It's a movement to recognize that we exist because we have these people to rehabilitate, treat, and care for. Today we made a movement to do it together; it's an integrated activity, where the patient plays a very important role. Today is a celebration!" she celebrated. Among the participants, patient Celeste Maria Ferreira da Cruz, who has been treated at the clinic for over 20 years, was moved. "This is my second home. If only every institution were like this…" Bahiana, people would be better. I just have to thank all of you who treat us with so much care and love. Today was a very special day, I just have to thank you," said Celeste.
