Former student of Bahiana competing for a spot to become a civilian astronaut

Gabriel Matheus, a physiotherapist and graduate of the institution, is participating in the SERA Space Agency selection process that will take a Brazilian into space aboard the New Shepard rocket.

Physiotherapist Gabriel Matheus, a graduate of Bahiana and former member of the Physiotherapy Clinic team Bahiana Health, is embarking on a new and inspiring chapter in his professional career. After dedicating himself to aerospace healthcare, with experience in extreme environments and similar space missions, he is now participating in the selection process for SERA Space Agency, a private space agency that will select a Brazilian to travel to space aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket.

If selected, Gabriel will become a civilian astronaut, taking with him not only a personal dream, but also a commitment to expanding the horizons of Physical Therapy and Aerospace Health, uniting science, human care, and space exploration.
