A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, through Bahiana Health, was recognized as the best medium- and large-sized clinic to work for in Brazil, winning first place in the GPTW Health 2025 Awards in the Clinics category. The awards ceremony took place in São Paulo on July 28th, bringing together leaders and representatives from the country's leading healthcare institutions. The award, sponsored by Great Place to Work, evaluates companies in the survey Trust Index©, which measures employees’ perception of the work environment; and in the analysis of the Pillars For All, which considers organizational practices focused on equity, inclusion and innovation. The Bahiana It was the only institution from Bahia among the 80 awarded, standing out nationally.

According to the manager of Bahiana Health, Silvia Gonçalves, the recognition reflects the institution's commitment to excellence, hospitality, and genuine care: "Providing a safe and pleasant environment for our employees is essential. The culture of caring is lived by everyone who is part of the Bahiana. And this care extends to the Salvador community, with initiatives that generate a positive social impact.” Among the highlights for 2024, she cites the Transgender Person Care Clinic, with 422 appointments; the Dental Center of Bahiana, with 27.059 appointments; and the Medical Center of Bahiana, with 488.228 services, 96,82% of which were carried out by the SUS or charitable assistance.

“The results of the Bahiana at GPTW Saúde show that actions aimed at the external public directly influence organizational culture and internal engagement. The sense of purpose, belonging, and social impact experienced by employees is strengthened by practices that also benefit the community,” notes the Human Resources and Development Manager at Bahiana, Allana Machado. She also highlights that the Bahiana was the only award-winning clinic that served primarily the SUS (Unified Health System). "This achievement demonstrates that it is possible to offer quality, inclusion, and innovation within the public health system, demystifying the idea that excellence only exists in the private sector. If Bahiana is 1st place, the SUS is too!”, concludes Allana.
