The program of the XXI Pedagogical Forum of Bahiana began with the rhythm of forró and a tribute to the centenary of Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, whose life and work was told in cordel format by students of the Tutorial Education Program in Dentistry (PET-Odonto). In its 21st edition, the forum brought together, on August 8th and 9th, hundreds of professors from all undergraduate and graduate programs at Bahiana around the theme: “The Party Is Back”. According to the institution’s rector, Dr. Maria Luisa Soliani, the theme was chosen because Bahiana has much to celebrate: "We must celebrate our good pedagogical practices and so many other achievements we have attained," he declared. Keeping pace with technological advances and the new challenges posed by contemporary times, the event's opening lecture was "AI in Education: Is There Reason to Fear? What Depends on Us?", presented by Oscar Juarez, a professor at the University of Chile, with moderation by Professor José Roberto Andrade.

The morning of the first day continued with the theme of new technologies through the workshops "Let's Celebrate the Possibilities of Innovation: AI as a Pedagogical Resource." In the afternoon, good pedagogical practices developed by groups of professors were presented to those present and to guest speakers Patrícia Zen Tempski and Milton Arruda, professors at the Center for the Development of Medical Education (CEDEM) at the University of São Paulo (USP). They then commented on the projects presented, moderated by the coordinator of the Medical School and vice-rector of the Bahiana, Dr. Humberto de Castro Lima Filho. “Teaching here, in Bahiana, is very different from the country and other countries in the world that I know. It's a close teacher-student relationship, with a lot of contact with the community and the local reality, and a very deep technical and humanistic training," said Milton Arruda.

The festive atmosphere continued on Saturday morning, with the dialogued lecture "The Challenge of Faculty Development: Program and Community of Educators," presented by Professor Patrícia Zen Tempski, a topic she presented at the World Congress on Medical Education in May of this year. The event concluded with the traditional Golden Butterfly Award, which honors faculty and academic staff for their dedication to the education of medical students. BahianaThis time, the coordinators of the undergraduate courses, the Pedagogical Supervision Centers, and the Psychopedagogical Care Center were honored. "The Borboleguim is incredible because it reflects creativity, lightness, and beauty. When you look at it, you feel like flying! It reflects the spirit of the Pedagogical Forum, which is festive, creative, full of encounters, hugs, and affection. Above all, it reflects the joy of teaching, of exchanging experiences and knowledge. That's what the Borboleguim is all about!" said Professor Dr. Luciana Bilitário, coordinator of the Physiotherapy program. That evening, during the teachers' gathering, the e-book "Letters for Peace" was launched, featuring letters written by participants of the 20th Pedagogical Forum, held in 2024.
