Celebrate the new phase of life, get to know the way "Bahiana to be" and learn from those who are already ahead. These were some of the objectives of New from Bahiana 2025.2, which took place on the morning of August 1st, broadcast on YouTube, bringing together new students from all of the institution's undergraduate programs. "I'm in College! What now?" was the theme of the meeting, which was moderated by the artistic and cultural director of Bahiana, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, by the manager of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), Angélica Mendes, and by the coordinator of the Common Center, Prof. Luciana Oliveira, with the virtual participation of the course coordinators. “The Reception of Newcomers is a space of welcome, of initial presentation of a “way of being” Bahiana to its new students, with welcome, joy, reflection and some information about this initial period of adaptation”, explains Angélica Mendes.

According to Angélica, who has led NAPP for 16 years, the reception theme is always based on demands that emerge in everyday academic life, related to educational objectives, the educational process in general, including mental health, art, and the development of citizens and future healthcare professionals to think and work for a more equitable and just society. "This year, our theme focused on the incoming student themselves and this important transition in their lives. It's a theme that makes us reflect on the natural changes, the separation of ties among those who migrate from the countryside, and the calm necessary for this transition to be smooth and welcomed by us and by them. This need has become increasingly present, as urgency has emerged as a symptom in current times, generating haste and anxiety about what is yet to come and a fragile connection to the present," explains the NAPP manager.

Responding to the theme "I Got Into College! Now What?", NAPP chose to bring in students from the institution itself as guests. Thus, the experience of being Bahiana and how to make the most of one's academic career were shared in a discussion with senior students Brenda Campos (6th semester of Medicine), Gabriela Vasconcelos (8th semester of Nursing), and Mila Machado (8th semester of Dentistry). "It was wonderful to hear from them and realize that they are embarking on a path of personal and professional learning, encompassing self-care, caring for others, and a balanced educational process," concludes Angélica Mendes.
