Bahiana hosts the 6th Regional Meeting of the Brazilian Association of Neurofunctional Physiotherapy – ABRAFIN

A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública hosted the 6th Regional Meeting of the Brazilian Association of Neurofunctional Physiotherapy – ABRAFIN on May 31st at its Cabula Campus. The event's theme was "The Journey of Patients with Neurological Disorders – From Diagnosis to Community Reintegration." It was coordinated by the ABRAFIN BAHIA Branch, whose delegates included Elen Beatriz Pinto, a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Medicine and Human Health and in Health Technologies; Lorena Rosa Santos, the head of the physiotherapy service at the Movement Disorders and Parkinson's Disease Outpatient Clinic at Roberto Santos General Hospital (HGRS)/SESAB; and Marina Makhoul, a member of the Physiotherapy faculty.

The event was attended by undergraduate students and physical therapists from various institutions, as well as representatives of the HTLVIDA patient association. Also in attendance were graduates of the Master's in Technologies and Health program and members of the Motor Behavior and Neurofunctional Rehabilitation Research Group, led by researcher Elen Beatriz Pinto. It was a morning of exchanges and important reflections for the work of neurofunctional physical therapists, focused on promoting access to quality rehabilitation and strategies aimed at reintegrating individuals into the community.

As part of the program, Professor Elen Beatriz Pinto delivered a lecture entitled "Community Reintegration: Barriers and Facilitators." Professor Lorena Rosa Santos participated in the panel discussion "Initial Approach to Patients with Neurological Dysfunction," and Marina Makhol participated in the discussion "Access to Specialized Neurorehabilitation."
