Professor Isabella Queiroz, linked to the Professional Master's Program in Psychology and Health Interventions at Bahiana, participated in the 5th National Meeting of the Baby Network on May 23rd, held remotely via Zoom. During the discussion, the professor participated in the discussion "Primary and Secondary Prevention of Mental Health Linked to Developmental Monitoring," where she presented the paper: "Caring for the Parent-Baby Bond from Neonatal Screening onward: Interventions of Sickle Cell Disease in Early Childhood." The Baby Network is a horizontal, interdisciplinary, and interinstitutional network comprised of professionals involved in early childhood care who share the principle of prioritizing the early detection of psychological distress.
The study presented is one of the developments of the research project "The Importance of Early Mental Health Care for Babies with Sickle Cell Disease: Detecting Risk Indicators in Early Childhood," approved under FAPESB/SECTI Call No. 016/2023 – Support for Scientific, Technological, and/or Innovation Research in Diseases and Injuries Prevalent in the Black Population, with an Emphasis on Sickle Cell Disease and the Impacts of Structural Racism on Health. This initiative emerged as a result of the research development, reflecting the consolidation of partnerships and the dissemination of knowledge produced throughout the project.
The project is executed by Bahiana, in partnership with APAE Salvador, and coordinated by Professor Isabella, with Professor Carlos Danon as vice-coordinator. The initiative highlights how raising funds for research enables not only scientific development but also the strengthening of inter-institutional partnerships and the dissemination of knowledge fundamental to promoting health equity.
